The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I remember people praising stamps in Nintendoland and saying they wouldn't mind a system wide implementation.
I also remember the Activity log on the 3DS and that was loved too for tracking your games and the time you spent on them. People were angry that didn't come back.

More options is never a bad thing

Think of the moons in Mario Odyssey and the Korok seeds/shrines in BOTW. These are all extras that will take you hours and hours.
To some, it's a chore, to others its a challenge or they don't want the game to end so they carry on playing.

A trophy or achievement or stamp will just be a system wide way of showing you or others that you've done it without having to launch the game.
No harm in that.
The switch actually does keep track of your gameplay as far as logging hours for each game.

This article had main points i agreed with

Some games like Oddysey and even Ultimate Smash Bros. have that extra stuff that I find meaningless like completing certain tasks or × amount of feats to fill out some photo album

Haven't really come across a game yet where doing every single feat was fun.

Usually challenges have rewards that at least have something to do with game progression. To me its a chore when there's nothing to it other than doing it.

I guess lean more to the story/adventure side of a game instead of prolonging its lifespan.

Maybe it's cuz I'm used to RPG's so it's always been normal. Most of the good ones have good post game/optional challenges.
Beating the super bosses in FF games are almost tradition at this point. Omega, Ultima, Ruby Weapons etc..

I remember booting up FF7 and just chilling in the Golden Saucer or just playing Chocobo Hot/Cold in FF9 without progressing in the main storyline just because they were fun and you get rewarded for it even though they were optional.

Then the Endgame is when you can really flex your muscles and you get rewarded for building your party during the game.
What better way of getting rewarded than taking on one of the super bosses and beating them.

If you only played the main story then thats cool but if you stuck with it then you get more skills more summons, better weapons. Either is fine.

I don't agree with the article.

Nintendo Switch Doesn’t Reward Mediocrity with Achievements
Trophies come in tiers, so everyone knows getting a bronze is just getting on the board. Getting a Gold/Plat are the big achievements.

Achievements Kill Immersion
This is a non issue You can turn off the notification.

Achievements Don’t Add Additional Grinding to Nintendo Switch
People were doing this before Trophies. No one's been forced to grind but if you enjoy it then go for it.
He uses the example of FFX which can be completed in 38 hours but then will take 120 hours for the plat.

Here's BOTW

"Digital trophies are for lames!"

*Throws shots repeatedly in the thread for digital rep on an obscure message board*

Okay, partna.

Nintendo has some bangers...

PlayStation 4's best-selling exclusives are:
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Spider-Man
God of War
The Last of Us: Remastered
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Gran Turismo Sport

In six weeks, Animal Crossing: New Horizons outsold all of them save Uncharted 4, which it will surpass in a few weeks.

I guess the strategy of releasing a good game once a year is really working for them! (Kidding!)

Mafia II was good and better than Mafia III. I never played Mafia I though which I heard was the best one.

There's only ever been 2 games that I completely stopped playing because of the games themselves, The first Was Lords of the Fallen, and the second was Mafia 3. With Mafia 3, it was being told to take out more mob bosses after doing all that grinding to take out the first set that just made me nope out of there and delete the game real quick. :lol

Animal Crossings timing of release came at the perfect time considering what the world is going through right now with the covid-19 pandemic. This is a HUGE reason why New Horizons is so successful and sold so many copies so far. I mean heck the game has taken over all of my gaming hours and FFVII remake has been put on hold and I haven't beaten that game yet.

Yeah Mafia 3 the story pacing, graphics and especially while driving around looked horrible like PS3 era graphics. I ended up regretting buying the DLC season pass and never got around to playing the DLC expansion content.

Mafia 3 one of the worst games I’ve ever played. So repetitive.

Hey now, this quarantine is helping out a ton! If it goes for 18 more months, I think I should have a handle on it.

I bought Mafia 3 complete edition on one of the sales cheap, simply off how much I enjoyed Mafia 2. I should have looked a bit closer at reviews.

I think I will still give it a go... I mean, I did play through Mass Effect Andromeda. I feel like anything after that is doable.

I'm always surprised when I hear people talk about how much they liked M2. It was the second game I ever worked on(tester), and I guess I just played it so much I was burned out. I still have the collector's edition in shrinkwrap on the shelf. Maybe this time I'll finally play it from the consumer side.

I wanna buy nioah 2 but I know imma hate that ish cause I hated both sekiro and bloodbourne.

ish were too hard for me or I just don’t have the patience. I consider myself a pretty good gamer too but these games humbled me

Is Bloodnorne good? I have a copy on my ps4 and now that I beat Red Dead, GOW, and Last Of US, Im trying to figure out what game I should play next. Im thinking of playing Spiderman or Bloodborner next. What game would you guys recommend I play next between Bloodborne and Spiderman?

Bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever made but it is certainly challenging.

Struggle Box last week did a inside 20/20 Xsex digital event and came with the weak sauce by not showing any next gen in game or real time game play footage

Ok.. but that was from 3rd party devs and everything we've heard and seen from those same 3rd party devs aren't sounding excited about struggle box.

Surprised they're doing a Mafia collection. Whenever I hear somebody describe their games, I usually get "meh."
