Jetpac you're cool and all, but from my point of view, it looks like you have a bias towards the Xbox. You can buy a PlayStation and still favour the Xbox platform. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes. Because I feel $100 savings is an advantage I must be broke.

Im glad fortune has smiled upon you and that you can use hundreds to light your caviar cigars and make it rain at the honey plaza, but to the rest of us, saving money where we can is important.

I had to rep you for this. :lol

Anyone know where I can get a preorder? Not really. I just wanted to say my excitement level is at about a 8 after seeing that Madden trailer. It was beautiful.

I forgot about Sams club. The only bad thing is that they probably won't have a midnight launch.. If you have a membership with them, like I do, or Costco......you should definitely check them out as alternatives to waiting out at walmart, gamestop and such.

I was joking. I've had 2 preorders since 2 days after E3. Should be done paying them off by release day.
I saw that.

That's why I posted inb4 double standards.

b/c someone asked the same thing.

Why wouldn't I have a bias towards the Xbox? Anybody who knows me from the old PS3 thread knows I usually have all three consoles each generation going back to the PS2 era. I'm more comfortable with the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live >>> PSN (IMHO). That said, Its a whole new generation. Sure I want to see M$ do good because I'm very comfortable with them. But at the moment I'm pure Sony (Sounds so odd to say that). I sold my Xbox360 a couple weeks ago so all I have now is my PS3 and Wii U. My reserves are 80% PS4 games and I don't see that changing thanks to the PS4 Vita support. It just kinda is what it is.

Killer Instinct >>>> tho :Nthat

Sony Acknowledges it's the Underdog in America

"We never took [Microsoft] lightly."

Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has expressed his admiration for Microsoft's decision to change the Xbox One, saying competition is healthy.

In an interview with Games Industry, the Sony Worldwide Studios boss acknowledged the company faces a fight to make the PlayStation 4 the dominant console in North America, but he's glad that Microsoft changed aspects of the Xbox One to make things harder for Sony.

"It's always great to have two companies fighting each other," he said. "People like it; it creates a news story. The games media will cover any platform launch, but the general media - a big Sony versus Microsoft battle is a bigger story. Microsoft launching Xbox One in the same year, the same Christmas - people compare them, lots of news stories are written."

We never took them lightly. Especially in the States, we are the challenger - we're trying to compete with them.

When the interviewer suggested strong PS4 pre-orders were due to Microsoft mis-marketing the Xbox One, Yoshida was quick to disagree, calling the rival company's efforts "great". Asked to expand upon this further, he explained that the swiftness with which policy changes were embraced showed Microsoft was committed to gamers, which can only be a good thing for consumers.

"We know they're very smart people," he said. "It's great that they were able to quickly realise that some of the things they were doing were not popular, and were able to make really quick decisions to change some of those things - even things that their engineering group must have spent a lot of time preparing before the launch. It must have been a very tough time for them. That shows how smart they are, and it shows their dedication to making Xbox One successful.

"We never took them lightly. Especially in the States, we are the challenger - we're trying to compete with them. Some of the messaging that they stumbled on just gave us more chances to compete with them in the States. Other markets are very different - in Europe, we have a larger market share and in Japan, we have a much longer history of being here. Being consistent and persistent helps; the legacy and people's associations with the brand, their memories of having a great time before."

Despite this appreciation for Microsoft, Yoshida is keen to emphasise the strengths of the PlayStation 4; specifically the fact that the console is completely gamer-focused, with a hardware design that'll enable developers from all walks of life to coax the best out of the machine in the years ahead.

[The changes show] how smart they are, and it shows their dedication to making Xbox One successful.

"We continue to say what we've been saying since February," he said. "PS4 is really designed for consumers and focused on how people want to play games. At the same time, we've really made sure that it's hardware which game developers will enjoy making games on. We want consumers to look at how much fun it is to use this system, not just for playing games but for finding out about games and sharing the experience with other people.

"Something that can be a weakness but can be a very strong asset for the PlayStation team is the management team that we have. Many of us in key positions have gone through all the transitions from the launch of PS1. Andrew House, Jack Tretton, myself and many of the executives were all there at the beginning. We've gone through great times and pretty difficult times together. I've never worked for another company, so I can just imagine, but we have a very efficient way of discussing issues and being open and honest. We make quick decisions when necessary, and that's something that's very fresh to me."

The Xbox One is due to launch globally on November 22, while the PlayStation 4 will be available in North America on November 15 and in Europe on November 29. Both are available to pre-order/reserve now at online retailers in multiple territories.

Seriously PS4 at 399.99 is a HELL OF A BARGAIN. It really doesn't get any better than that.

This

Also to add that the console price is the minimum you'll spend at launch. I'm getting 2 retail games, a couple indie titles and hopefully an extra controller. That extra $100 can be put to good use easily and it becomes a no brainer for the more powerful console
(For multiplatforms that is.)

Why are yall acting like the ps4 wasnt going to be 499 at launch? Its pretty well known the PS EYE was cut in order to keep the cost down and undercut M $

Source?

Microsoft didn't reveal the Xbone price until E3, same day as Sony revealed the PS4 price.

Why you acting like the Kinect is an integral piece of machinery that people will actually use and care about.

I remember reading an IGN article saying that the PS4 camera was removed as an accessory from the standard PS4 to make the $399 price more amenable to Sony. Don't know where you're getting the $499 price from though. The camera by itself costs $60 so it doesn't account completely for the $100 price differential.

I'm broke and I shouldn't be buying a PS4 but I don't care. I deserve it.

I wish I could do the same, but man things are rough for me right now.  It's looking like I'll probably have to cancel my Amazon pre-order.

I pre-ordered the launch edition along with NBA 2k14, Madden 25 and a DS4 which all together comes out to $580. Since I live in the Bahamas, I have to pay a customs duty rate on anything I bring in, which for anything video game related is 45% of the price

So that coupled with shipping fees I'd have to pay the carrier to bring it in, I'm looking at $900+ in total for my PS4. I can't swing that right now.

I'm waiting 'til the last minute to cancel my pre-order hoping I can set aside some additional funds to cover it between now and then, but if I have to cancel don't mind waiting until Christmas or early next year to pick one up.

Im getting both, its still cheaper than buying a pair of solar which all you guys are thirsty for.

Damn, good luck, Have you consider buying games digitally? I have a homeboy who lives near Dubai and we just started sharing games through my account. Even if you couldn't cop the games immediately you'd at least have the console in the mean time.

^ Yeah I have a few games digitally, but I don't buy them on a consistent basis because PSN cards are hard to come by over here, so I can't use them to reload my PSN wallet.

Amazon sells PSN $10, $20, $50 online codes but you can't buy them if you have a non-US credit card.

I know other sites sell online codes but they're usually $5-10 more and have mixed reviews about when they actually send the codes so I'm sketchy about them.

$100 for the camera??

Here's a bundle here in europe which is the same price as the XBone

Game, extra controller and the camera.

The camera was cut because not everyone wants one. Why force the consumer to buy what they don't want. It decreases the perceptive value of the console.
I'm not saying it wasn't also a strategic decision to lower the price and be competitve but common sense prevailed basically.

Have you tried loading your wallet thru the psn website using your paypal account? That's how I load my wallet don't even go out to buy psn cards anymore....
