You guys are really depriving yourselves of some quality out there if you aren't occasionally giving some of the best from genres you normally don't look at a try.
Cats in here playing straight shooters and sports games
ALL I MESS WITH. BETWEEN MY PS3 AND XBOX 360 I OWN 21 GAMES. 18 ARE SHOOTERS. I SEE THE TREND CONTINUING WHEN MY XBONE AND PS4 ARRIVE

are those all first person COD type of shooters? thats insane! i have to have a variety btwn those both first and third person, sports, action/adventure and racing.
what are games like Army of Two considered?
I play mostly shooters, but not all first person.
Lately I've been playing The Last of Us, Black Ops 2, and Injustice. So a decent mix.... maybe.... lol.
I THINK I'M GOING TO PICK UP THE LAST OF US. BEEN HEARING GOOD THINGS.
Replay value is all subjective. I've beaten Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction like 5 times. I've gone back, collected all the gold bolts, HOLO plans for the RYNO, beat challenge mode, etc. Same for the Uncharted games, especially the first, just because I really like the story and the plot twist when the gameplay changes.
Reeeaaally long single player games like RPG's, I only beat once, because of all the grinding and what not, but there are really good paced single player games in the 12-18 hour range like Infamous, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet & Clank Future, God of War, etc. that are compelling enough to play more than once. Plus you notice things you didn't the first play through. It's like a good movie that you rewatch all the time. Don't get me wrong though. I play a lot of shooters and sports simulation too, but I need that variety and the games are really good.
I don't know if this was ever posted, but this is a pretty good Knack interview with gameplay. The interviewer has no idea what he's talking about though.
Shooters and sports games have the most replay value though (to me at least i can't play through a single player game more then once to get all the bonuses or coins or hidden gems or what not).
Games cost too much for me to buy a single player game and only get 30 hours of game play out of it.
I agree with you i tend to buy the single player games used....way late . Like picked up the GOD collection for $40 that had 3 games....and picked up the Shadow of the Colossus/ico collection for cheap....was gonna grab the jak and daxter pack too. I like the games but hard for me to justify the price tag on most of them

Replay value of single player games is pretty risky. I mean $60 for a game you may only play once thru is a lot. But then I just think back to when video games for the SNES and Genesis were 70+ with no online play, no dlc, no achievements. But i can see why people don't bother.
I could play MGS series anytime. Several Final Fantasies over and over. Even some wild games like Catherine (which also has a very entertaining multiplayer).
I know the BioShock series is awesome, still havent played it. Mass Effect sounds like one i could get into.
So many quality games out there
I just think I'm over first person shooters. I mean what has changed since COD4? You can jump and sprint now in Halo, cool... You get different kill/score streaks, cool... Customize your weapons, cool... You get a dog?...
TitanFall has already been done before in COD. Those titans are essentially larger Juggernauts. Cool... i guess
How do people spend 20+ days online multiplayer per each new FPS that comes out? Think about how many DAYS you've spent playing first person shooters. its insane!
I read that "Titanfall" won game of the year at E3...
So I went back and looked at the gameplay vid and I just don't see it. Maybe it's my taste in games. It's ok I guess.
But from what I see Destiny > Titanfall so far atleast.
Infamous Second Son >>* imho
just at the moment i'm tired of FPS

Only games that were playable were eligible for awards; so MGS V, The Division, Witcher 3 etc. were not eligible.

Yea that game is going to be great. I'm about to start part 2. I really like part one.
I need to replay both. I loved the idea and notion of the game. And its the nearest I'll get to a Static Shock game
