The guy at Oracle told me $25. I wouldn't pay $1 to get an autograph though, so yeah.Originally Posted by FRANCHISE 55
The pricing is ridiculous for the Curry signing. They make you buy an item from them. $45 for an 8x10? Get the eff out of here. I just got an 8x10 signed and a picture with him for free the other day.
Yeah he does.Originally Posted by NothingToL0se
A brief respite last night, but the Warriors' volcano is still ready to blow
Posted by Tim Kawakami on November 10th, 2009 at 10:09 am | Categorized as Columns, Journalism, NBA, Warriors
Before I get to the column that ran in this morning's Merc…
* Keep an eye on these numbers, because I know W's management has to be very nervous about them (maybe my pal Gary Radnich can help out the Cohan/Rowell righteous cause and buy 500 season tickets?)…
-Warriors' attendance last night: 15,468.
-Warriors' low attendance last season: 17,422 (thanks to Twitter response, and I double-checked it).
-Warriors' average this year through four home games: 17,827 (and heading south big time, remember, with HUGE discounts).
-Warriors' average attendance last season: 18,942.
Here are the attendance averages for the preceding 6 seasons: 19,631 in '07-08 after playoff run, 18,104 in '06-07 after Nelson's hiring, 18,273 in 05-06 after Baron's arrival, 16,350 in 04-05 after Montgomery's hiring, 16,235 in 03-04 after Musselman's first year, 15,486 in 02-03 after Musselman's hiring/Dunleavy drafting.
Maybe Warriors fans are doing the best protest possible: Not buying tickets and reducing the support for the worst management team in the NBA, as listed by ESPN.com's Chad Ford. Sorry, I know Gary's not going to be happy about that listing.
* Two Warriors players told Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears that they want Jackson to be traded to end the distraction, and Spears added that management sources are confident they can trade SJax in a few weeks.
Obviously, this does not help SJax's trade value (as little as it is) at all, but that's just the way it goes with the Warriors and SJax.
If you're the W's, you're not supposed to tip your hand and tell someone that you can trade SJax soon-all that does is make the interested teams realize that they don't have to up their (presumably lackluster) offer, since the Warriors are getting desperate.
OK, no surprise. But… like the deal with NJ to free up the GSW's No. 1 pick next year for trading… you don't DECLARE your intentions (must trade pick/must trade SJax in three weeks) BEFORE you've actually got a deal to do it.
Oh well. Plus, I'm sure there are a few Warriors players who are eager to see SJax go-and that doesn't increase his value, either.
You can probably take a guess (might be wrong). Play the same position, maybe? It's legitimate. He is a distraction. SJax has largely brought this on himself.
But he is also correct about the Warriors' foolish management, and he is the only guy who (occasionally) plays defense on the perimeter vs. teams that aren't as horrid as Memphis and Minnesota.
The Warriors need SJax off the team for chemistry issues, but they will be much less talented without him.
That doesn't matter, I know. Warriors management is great!
--the column/
Brace yourselves, folks, I think the volcano's ready to blow.
When it does, everything else we've seen and heard from the Warriors this season will seem rinky-dink in comparison.
I'm not just talking about the Stephen Jackson Issue, though Jackson's agent re-ignited the lava flow this week by launching a broad attack against Don Nelson to ESPN.com.
"You guys know what that's all about," Nelson said Monday, suggesting correctly that Mark Stevens' comments were meant merely to provoke a trade. "I don't have any comment on it."
A few minutes later, Jackson hummed happily to himself in the Warriors' locker room before they walloped dreadful-dreadful Minnesota at Oracle Arena.
Jackson declined comment but certainly was not displeased by the ruckus.
You see, the Jackson affair is just the warm-up percolation, however it is resolved, if it ever is.
I'm also talking about the Monta Ellis Issue, which has been building for months.
I'm talking about the Anthony Randolph Issue, which Nelson continues to stoke.
I'm talking about the Andris Biedrins Issue. The Corey Maggette Issue. The C.J. Watson Issue. The Team-Is-Lousy Issue.
I'm talking about all of the issues, all of these players in various states of unease and unhappiness, jammed together in one hothouse locker room, ready to explode.
Mostly, I'm talking about owner Chris Cohan, team president Robert Rowell and Nelson, struggling to keep a lid on the combustion.
Which, of course, will only make the detonation bigger when it happens.
Right now, the Warriors are 2-4 after playing a series of cupcakes, are missing Biedrins and Ronny Turiaf due to lingering injuries, and are about to start a five-game eastern trip.
You think the players look like they don't care now?
It's only six games into the marathon. They've only just begun to understand how little their coach and front office care about winning.
Just wait till Game No. 60. On Monday, the home crowd was roaring, as the home crowd always roars at Oracle Arena, and for a little bit, you could imagine the Warriors might be OK.
But they're not. (It's unlikely that Kelenna Azubuike will physically dominate any other team except the T-Wolves. I know, shocking, but true.) You think there's a lack of communication between Nelson and the players? Just wait a few more months, as his energy level and motivation continues to fade.
As it is, Nelson already seems like he's barely engaged with anything that's happening around him. Maui beckons!
"It's hard when you don't win," Nelson said before the game. "It's hard for everybody. You've got to keep your morale up."
Do you think you're the right coach for this team?
"I think so," Nelson said, before turning the tables on me. "What do you think?"
I told him that I thought the losses to Sacramento and the Clippers were bad.
I could've continued: Not only do I think he's the wrong coach for this team, I think Nelson thinks it, too.
Maybe Nelson is thinking he can get himself fired soon - an all-expense paid Maui retirement.
But Nelson is in the first year of the two-year, $12 million extension he signed last season. He isn't going anywhere, if Cohan and Rowell have anything to say about it.
The results have not been glorious, including that gruesome 28-point home loss to the Clippers followed by the blowout loss at Sacramento.
In the preseason, Nelson said he liked this team. Time to re-calibrate?
"Did I overestimate? No, I still like the team," Nelson said. "I haven't changed that."
What does he like?
"I like the young guys," Nelson said. "I think we've got some good guys there that are going to grow into really good NBA players. That's exciting for me."
Very exciting. Things are always exciting with the Warriors, especially this season.
There are always tremors, hot geysers and random puffs of smoke. Everything is heading toward an eruption. I don't know if anything will be left standing when it's over.
