What's the story on Concord? Didn't even hear of it until after release.

No one bought it. The genre is overcrowded so it's tough for a new IP to be successful. Especially when it's not free to play.

Peaked at like 700 players on steam and got dunked on endlessly

Was hated by the anti woke crowd for having pronouns and all that and also hated by the anti GaaS camps too because they want Sony to only make single player games.

As for the game itself, from what I gather, it's solid and has no performance issues.

First game from Firewalk, a new studio, that Sony acquired as part of a push into live service games this generation. Basically nobody cared about it from reveal to launch.

It began development 8 years ago when hero shooters became a thing. Now, hero shooters are a dime a dozen, and Concord doesn't do anything to distinguish itself.

8 years in development down the drain?! 😨

Having pronounces in what context?
So with it being a shooter, do you mean they added pronouns as an option for when people created their characters?

Honestly, did not know there were anti-GaaS groups... 😅

First time hearing of Dustborn and didn't know Concord had poltical themes to it. I'm guessing its in the story cutscenes?

I just thought it was a plain hero shooter. Looking on Steam, they both have the same tags.

Poltical issues aside, it seems people were prophesying the game failing right from the jump.

I think it will review decently and have a niche playerbase but nothing special.

Jim Ryan and now Herman Hulst are the whipping boy for this but they looked like geniuses earlier this year with Helldivers 2.
I don't think you can compare Phil Spencer to Jim Ryan. A failed game vs a failing brand are very different situations.

I think they knew from the beginning not all of the GaaS games will make it.

That being said, this is unprecedented though. It will go down in the history books
Big lessons to be learnt after not checking the books with Bungie and putting all that money down for Concord.

Let's see what happens to Fairgame. It's a heist game so I think that's less crowded but it's been clowned from day 1 without even seeing any gameplay.

I think Marathon and Horizon have better chances since once's from a reputable studio and the other's a successful IP.

Character selection screens has pronouns for each character and I think that's what got it the political and LGBT tags on Steam.

And yea thre's a bunch of people who think the GaaS games take away from the single player games. Some are saying all this money could have been used for Japan Studios instead of gutting them and just leaving Team Asobi.

They have had a couple. I would put Immortal up there, AC: Origin and Odyssey. The Crew is solid (for those of us who cant play Forza Horizon, anyway). The first Division game.

Ghost Recon Wildlands was a decent game with a solid framework to build on. It's too bad they botched it with Breakpoint. I could really go for a next-gen Ghost Recon.

Yeah Ubisoft has put out plenty of quality games over the last decade, imo. Outlaws looked off from the beginning.
