On a personal level do I like what Mike and the small market owners are doing? Hell no.
Do I know that its rooted in good business sense? Yeah
Here is the thing. These owners want their cake and to eat the cake too. They want the tax benefit of the depripiation of the players as assets, and they want the kick backs from the players. The players have every right to be pissed about this, because they cant go get the law repealed, and they have to consistantly hear that their offer to take on the majority of the total losses is not enough and they are dumb etc.
As far as Mike, no he isnt anymore of a sell out ( whatever that actually means to you) than he already was.
If he comes out of this situation looking a finanical reck with the value of the team dropping, and no profits to show a lot of you guys would be bashing him for losing all but his JB "stipend". You think he took on all the debt Bob Johnson accumulated for the team, and wasnt going to push for this?
Is it good business sense to decertify?
Yes and No. If a overwhelming majority (2/3) agree then maybe, but you still have to eventually play games for profit, and you have to think like rich people. If you are commited to 52% then you have to at least end up with that.
I would be more pissed at the players if they were not obviously getting screwed.
