Coker is currently putting on wack shows in Bellator and failing to secure obvious fights like MVP vs Daley on the England card, I have zero confidence in him anymore. I expected so much more considering his Strikeforce track record.

I've pointed that out more than once about page and Daley but if you don't think Coker could do wonders with a roster 10 times better than bellators you're fooling yourself

The more I read on Daley the more reluctant he seems to be to take the fight with page for whatever reason

Coker fed into Viacom’s desire for super fights or freak shows. I don’t think he’s trying not to book that fight. Just seems like there’s an issue with the fighters.

Bellator does seem like an ish show right now.

Bellators roster, while improving and full of young potential, isn't anywhere near the caliber of strike force. Not even in the same stratosphere. Only so much you can do with it

Yeah the freak show thing is ridiculous.

And Coker has to take a good part of the blame for Bellator’s roster being ridiculously weak too.

Use the fact that so many fighters have issues with the UFC and lost all their sponsors with this Reebok BS to swing more solid new prospects and UFC free agents instead of getting washed up bums like Chael who I guess are supposed to sell tickets.

Coker poached as much talent as he could from the UFC, so I'm not buying that he's to blame for the weak roster. The UFC absorbed all his talent from Strikeforce and held on to the mainstays. Which "solid new prospects" are going to sign with Bellator? Lol, that's just silly to expect

He's gotten what he could like Benson, Rory, Phil Davis, Bader, Nelson, Larkin, Mousasi etc. Most of these guys aren't "washed up bums" so perhaps you may have forgotten about these signings. They aren't going to have the promotion competing with the UFC either though

He's not going to be able to get their main stars so that's unrealistic to expect, but he's done an admirable job of poaching

Again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do what Dana does. He's more of a detriment than anything so anyone would be an upgrade. With Coker's knowledge of the sport and experience in running a promotion he'd no doubt have the thing running much better. Anyone in the know would likely improve on it vastly

Why should getting prospects be silly to expect? You just said he can’t poach top talent from the UFC, so then isn’t that the only other way to effectively build your roster with top talent? Isn’t that how Strikeforce and WEC became great? How would you even succeed as an organization without doing this? Why in the world would that be silly?

Overall there needs to be a lot more focus on building fresh names and getting solid contenders, and a lot less on Chael, the corpse of Fedor, Rampage, etc. Mitrione’s corny *** too. Those names you mentioned are building a semblance of depth at weight classes but it’s not enough to get me excited to watch.

I hope Coker turns it around because MMA hasn’t looked so great with the UFC almost having a monopoly on the game, but I wouldn’t call what I see with Bellator right now admirable. They need work

Why would a young prospect who's already signed with the UFC, leave to go to Bellator? That is silly

He has young talent in house, he needs to continue developing them. He had Ghallager perhaps on the verge of becoming at least on the Michael Page status but Ghallager got hurt on what was supposed to be his coming out party

He has Aaron Pico, AJ Mckee as well but they are not ready at the moment to become household names

Poaching top talent from the UFC is a tall order, and that's why he got what he could a tier below. Rory and Mousasi were great gets but as far as moving the needle, there's only a handful of those guys and it's unlikely they'll leave the UFC

Bellator deserves criticism sure, but you saying Coker wouldn't flourish with the UFC is extremely misguided

Who said anything about a young prospect being signed with the UFC leaving? I’m taliking about signing guys like Pico and Danis.

And nothing that I’ve seen from Coker’s current matchmaking or running of Bellator suggests he would kill it in the UFC any more than they’re doing right now. Hopefully he steps it up but this opinion you have that’d he’d kill it is just that, an opinion. No more no less

Yes, he's signed some great young talent like I've referenced, it's his job to develop them as I stated. It's going to be a process, it won't be overnight. You're saying "more young talent", how much more young talent you want him to sign? He has done a great job of signing young talent, but they are very raw and largely unproven both in the cage and out

Which matches would you like to see them make for you to give him more credit, outside of what we already mentioned in Page vs Daley

I agree with Black Cease. I’d be pursuing up and comers from LFA, PFL, One, Cage Warriors, BAMA, etc.

I saw Palhares get knocked out in Russia. There’s gotta be some Russian prospects.

I’d also pursue UFC free agents. Show them that sponsor money + Bellator fight money is competitive with UFC.

Honestly, Bellator seems really shallow.

And the Chael, Rampage, Shamrock, Wanderlai, possible Chuck Liddel fights are so unenticing at this point.

Pico, Ghallagher, Mckee, Danis, Page (not young but also a good get) I'm sure I'm forgetting others

How many more young prospects you want him to get? He's doing a great job of signing young talent

You want him to pursue UFC Free agents? Benson, Rory, Phil Davis, Bader, Nelson, Larkin, Mousasi... he pursued Cub but Dana gave him a HUGE fight with Frankie to make him stay

He isn't just making freak shows though. He's placed Benson, Rory, Bader, Phil and Mousasi in legit matches

What more do you want exactly?

Again, bottom line, to believe Coker wouldn't be a vast improvement over Dana is misguided. That's the discussion
