Looks like Frankie wants Cub

Cub: "I have been promised a title shot and the last time I checked Edgar doesn't have a title. But, I wouldn't mind punching him"

Frankie's footwork too good, will avoid Cub's accurate and heavy shots enough to a decision. It's a shame that Cub won't get back to the title because Aldo got hurt, I was really waiting for him to seek redemption. Either way I'd be hyped for the stand up war.

i think cub can do well against edgar. i believe he is quicker, slightly better boxing, nice body kicks that can hurt frankie. good fight doe. frankie is good everywhere.

I have Cowboy by finish against Miller. Cowboy got lucky against Barboza though and I feel like Cowboy's best days are behind him. I think he'd get that work from Pettis (again), Bendo (again x3), Gil and Nate (again). That's not even mentioning Khabib and Thomson and RDA who already dominated him.. Aint no shame in that but the division is just loaded. Tough to be king at 55. I don't think Cowboy has it in him.. he makes any fight fireworks though.

The fight with Pettis was nice. Brutal body strikes. Wish Pettis could stay healthy. Enjoy seeing him kick the crap out of people. Him body kicking henderson 6-7 times in a row was great to watch.

UFC throwing money at beasts just to get Ronda some comp. Maybe this is why Dana was so mad when they leaked they might have another opponent for her soon.
Undefeated women's star Holly Holm signs with UFC
It's been a long time coming but multi-time world boxing champion Holly Holm has finally signed an exclusive, multi-fight deal with the UFC.

Holm joins the promotion with an undefeated record in MMA, going a perfect 7-0 thus far in her career while training out of Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Holm was a force to be reckoned with during her boxing career as well before transitioning to MMA full time last year. She amassed a 33-2-3 record as a pro boxer, winning titles for the WBF, WBAN, WBC, GBU, WIBA, IFBA, WBA and IBA as well.

The New Mexico fighter known as 'The Preacher's Daughter' has had highly publicized negotiations to sign with the UFC for the past several months, but no deal was reached until just recently.

It's expected that Holm will be a serious force at 135 pounds when she debuts later this year. A date and opponent haven't been named as Holm is still dealing with a broken arm suffered in her last fight against Juliana Werner in April.

At 32 years old, Holm enters the UFC with a lot of hype as one of the only names left on the roster still to challenge women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Given her prolific striking background, Holm creates a different kind of animal for Rousey to deal with if she can survive an early UFC schedule to earn the title shot.

Holm trains alongside a slew of top UFC names including light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, so she'll have no shortage of great partners to get her ready for her Octagon debut once she is officially cleared to return to action.

Holly Holm has some nice cakes.

The world is so damn big, they need a way to find more female fighter who can do work in the octagon.

Are they going to give Holm a wrestler in her first fight? Be smart not to. I can't wait for her to get at Rousey, but can Holm defend a takedown?

ronda will merk her.

an olympic level greco roman wrestler with good boxing to fight ronda would be ideal opponent. a female version of randy couture.

I don't know that Holm has ever faced anyone who's good enough to really provide her much of a challenge. From what I've read she's pretty good at sprawling and brawling and has finished all but 1 of her fights, so I don't know that she could defend against an arm bar over the course of three rounds.

But her striking is elite and her style is definitely one that would give Ronda trouble. Until she closes the distance and gets a hold of her...

She better train with Olympic level judo dudes every day then if she wants to become champ one day.

She trains with Greg Jackson and Bones. She's got world class grapplers in her gym. How much she's getting from them who knows.

If she got in a ring with Ronda today though, I doubt she'd be able to do much once Rowdy got her hands on her.

It's tough to train for Ronda because even if you include the men there aren't many high level judokas on either side in MMA. Being a judoka 99% of Ronda's takedowns come from the clinch/tie up so classic freestyle wrestling shot defense like sprawling is useless. This is why a Greco roman wrestler would be perfect to counter a judoka in MMA; They specialize in fighting from the high clinch and a strong GR wrestler would be able to neutralize ronda.

Being with Jackson certainly helps Holm prepare, but I highly doubt they can have anyone truly emulate Ronda's style when sparring.

Red is right, a Greco wrestler would be ideal, but I STILL see Ronda retiring with the belt. Holm, Cyborg, Zingano. They all go down.

I believe in cyborg. She only wants to strike so she's pretty limited.

Holm and Cyborg should start preparing for Rousey now. The first thing I would do would be to call up Edith Bosch (she beat Ronda in the Olympics), Kayla Harrison (won gold for US at 2012 Olympics in judo), or even call up Hector Lombard. They all prepare for the arm bar but you never hear about any of them focusing on stopping her takedown.

Damn, I guess Aldo's ticked off by all the things Mendes is saying. He's calling him a p--sy and accusing him of taking PEDs.
Shots fired.

Jose Aldo was not happy to hear what Chad Mendes had to say about him. In a recent interview to The MMA Hour, Mendes said the UFC featherweight champion "can’t run forever" after the cancellation of their rematch at UFC 176.

Aldo, who decided not to do any interviews after he got injured and was forced out of the Aug. 2 card, decided to fire back.

The Nova Uniao talent sent a statement to Combate, calling Mendes a "pu--y" and accusing him of taking illegal substances.

"Maybe I have so many injuries because I’m not taking the same ‘supplements’ you take," Aldo wrote. "I have injuries because I train a lot to beat you like I did last time, and I think you remember that and still have nightmares about it. I did all the medical exams I had to do, but if you’re a doctor now, I can send them so you can take a look. Maybe you can prescript one of your supplements so I can heal faster.

"The one who gets beat up usually runs away from another beating, but you can’t run forever because I’m going after you. Before the cage is closed you can say whatever you want, because once they close it you won’t be able to open your mouth, so keep talking while you have a mouth. And who are you to say where we are going to fight? I don’t think Dana White would be happy to see someone making his decisions."

Mendes doesn’t sound happy with the possibility of his rematch being moved to the UFC 179 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in October.

"You’re the one who seems to only fight at your home, who desperately doesn’t want to fight in Brazil," Aldo replied. "I got injured before and my fight with Frankie Edgar was (the fight) moved from Brazil to Las Vegas. I fought your coach (Urijah Faber) in your home (Sacramento), fought at Mark Hominick’s home in front of 55,000 fans, I fought in Japan and Europe. And now you tell me you want to be the champion? A champion doesn’t choose opponents or where the fight is going to be. And now I ask you, who’s the real pu--y?"
