There's a few doco's on 'instamodels' who organically built up a tonne load of followers (millions) and were being paid to advertise their products.
Some companies would pay 5 figures for the model to take a half naked picture recommending their moisturiser etc. Millennials lap up that ****, constantly craving real-user reviews/recommendations on products that are most likely fabricated the by company itself. It's just more authentic when it comes to social media. Don't be fooled, it's just smart marketing.
Same rule applies to those who run those multi-million-followed accounts. Here's a picture, here's a caption and here is the time/date. 5k will be deposited into your account.
Think about those IG's with 3-5 million followers. I don't know how IG is analyzed, perhaps Nielsen or some data company may be able to calculate the percentage or interaction time per post. Even if 20% of 5 million followers view a post, thats 1 million people targeted, add in a shoutout and there's more traffic.
I don't see IG going nowhere fast, but the adoption rates of all social platforms will dwindle. Currently social content is where a lot of marketing spend is, it's the latest flavour of the month. You can literally advertise to the masses on the cheap.
Anyways, mad props to those who are running accounts on the side - it's a great gig to earn extra cash.
