Staying in college should be for developing a basketball IQ and experience. A college kid won't know NBA physicality until he experiences it...no matter how many college games he plays or weights he lifts.
*staying in college should be to raise draft stock. Thats it. There's no real advantage relative to the nba, for staying in college. Physically, the NBA is unmatched and no amount of college preparation is going to prepare you for that. As you said, you have to experience it. From a purely basketball perspective, playing in college is pointless because you're playing with college rules, with college teammates, all of which do not mirror the NBA at all.
This is partly why I scoff at the notion of a kid needing to stay in college to prepare for the nba. Makes no sense
