The Bicycle Thread

This makes me cringe.

Don't lean your frame like that. You will scratch it! Lean it with the handlebars or your tire's rubber. Please, please, don't ever lean it with your frame.
dont see the problem with that, some people dont care too much about scratches. i lean mines against the frame or whatever too

Surly be coming up with the most outrageous color way names, but that seems to be pretty on brand for them. Always keeping it light and fun
They really do  but they make great stuff. One of the few still making steel frames.
Nice to see other fixed gear cyclists.
Post pics of your bike jewelknows jewelknows
And that’s a sick bike Fong$tarr Fong$tarr
Will do. I will post the before trash pics. Then all the stuff I throw on. Already got a wheel set. Need a new saddle and handlebars.

I am a big fan of the brooks cambium stuff. Anything comparable as far as all weather (Portland) and comfy?

Really want a thompson seatpost, but not for the price lol.

I dont mind leaning on the frame as you guys said, it was for a couple min to rest and snap the pic, its not like im rubbing the frame against the tree back and forth to create scratches. I definitely take care of my bikes as I clean/take care of my car. Scratches will come every now and then from normal riding so its not a huge deal as im not doing it on purpose.

If I lean mine, I do it gently and make sure it's not going to slide. It's not going to get scratched up that way. Although I do try to use the seat/handlebars/pedal as contact points but it doesn't always work out.

Plus I buy my bikes used so they already have some imperfections, so if I do see a scratch I just blame it on the previous owner.

i mostly use the seat as is is grippier than the frame.

Finally completed a Century this past weekend. With Coffee/Lunch breaks. Overall, just wanted to have fun with the homie. Hit a 41.5 MPH PR as well.

Couple pics of the Steamroller. Sorry I’m not a photographer haha. But my brother gave me his backup cameraD90 so trying to learn.

Don’t mind the seat lol, it’s what it came with.

Probably going to put my brooks cambium, swap the stem, stem spacers and handlebar with something black. Probably drop or flat widebars. Gotta clean her up pretty good and redo that dam brake line.

Getting new tires, probabl go with GravelKings or ByWays. That would be it until I start doing smaller things.

edit: need this air to clear up! So I can probably take her on a ride.

I would assume you'd want to at least tilt that seat down a bit. Or do people prefer seats like this?

I tilt mine down some but I don't know what the consensus is other than it might help alleviate pressure where it counts.

Naw definitely not leaving it like that lol. This is how I received the bike. I havent messed with anything other than wheel swapping it. Im in Portland so I cant even step outside right now. Hence the garage photo.

But yea I dont recommend setting the seat like how this person had it.

Man I’m over here just doing 5-10 miles every other day. Sometimes I’ll do ~15 mi with hills, kills me every time
