Because they are inferior and subordinate to us, and as a superior species we are able to dominate them. Try to outline an argument for animal rights besides - thats just mean, or - if you dont see it then you are messed up, or - they can be loyal friends. Torturing/killing living things? What are the criterion for what is and isnt ok? All living things? Plants? Ants? Mosquitoes? Surely you wont say that they cant be touched just because theyre smaller than the others? Also, if it was categorically and ethically wrong to kill animals, then there would never be justification for doing so unless they violated somebodys rights. You dont say its ok to kill people for food? Why? Because people have rights (in this case, the right to life). You cant say that we should lawfully encourage the systematic killing of people in China because they need to have their population growth controlled. Why? Because killing people is wrong. There is NO justification for killing people with the exception of punishment, and even that is debatable.

I'm no animal activist, but honestly, when it comes down to it, anyone who argues for this girl's justification is messed up in the head in my opinion. This girl was killing these animals and was actually enjoying it. Now tell me that's not messed up.

Ok all i'm trying to do is get an argument as to why animals have rights, which animals have rights, and what rights animals have. I'm not saying that people SHOULD do this, nor am I saying I want people to stop caring about dogs. Im just interested in a logical, ideally deductive, explanation as to why they should be treated better than others.

I'm a vegan and could care less. Y'all should buy a plane ticket to one of them countries (Romania, Bosnia, etc) and take in their culture. Dogs are pests there... equivalent to alley rats here. India love their rats. You can get called out on your **** too. Just accept other peoples' cultures and move on.

I remember in elementary school we actually had to bring in butterflies trapped in jars to show off. What kinda **** was that?

You should watch War Dogs americas forgotten heroes on the history chanel.
Around 4,000 dogs were trained and served in the vietnam war. The military estimates that they saved over 10,000 lives. There were so effective the viet cong offered a 20,000 dollar reward for the capture of a dog, twice the amount they would get for capturing a soldier. Yet 95% of those dogs were left behind either put to sleep or discarded as "military surplus". Countless stories of these dogs who were attached to ONE soldier their entire life pulling their wounded friend out of battle and taking bullet after bullet but not letting go or running away until the soldier was safe.
Lets see a chicken/cow/pig pull that off.

I don't give a damn how terrible they treat dogs in their country, I think it's sick that a person would kill any baby animals and chuckle about it. She knows they were living things, she knew they were babies, she knew that they were helpless, she knew that there's absolutely no good purpose or functionality on killing them, and she was fully aware that she was murdering them. I can't believe you guys aren't seeing this as a big deal, she literally looked like she was happy to be a muderer.

Dude i am in no way trying to make a point at all. i am not trying to change your mind or tell you that animals are people too.
i don't think most people have or NEED a logical reason to love anyone or anything dogs included but that doesn't make it any less cool that they do.
My last post was about why dogs are awesome, not about why it's wrong to toss them into a river.

Dude are you serious, cruelty is cruelty. That crap is awful and something should be done. No matter what it is, that is a life-form capable of showing love and affection. It is just as bad as doing this to another human being.
