So I deleted my Facebook today

Thought i was the only one who timeline was moving very slowly.

Im sitting here seeing 15 minutes between posts thinking something wrong with my app. But Nah

EXACTLY how I feel.

If I see someone doing better them me,I give them their props."Ok, I see you bruh,I see you."

Then Im like "He has his,now its time to go get mine."

It motivates me to do and be better.

Nomad, you said you weren't jealous but then you mentioned how you weren't getting any love on FB and other undeserving people were. Not trying to argue but how is that not jealousy?

what are these shoe groups you guys speak of on there
nerd.gif
There are tons of them. Most are teenagers and other lames. You can tell just by their profile pics. Licking their shoes, editing Swag into it, and other childish nonsense. No need to deal with them. There is even a Niketalk page, where I'm guessing all these new members are coming from, as the page keeps getting bigger and bigger with other lames, which eventually come upon this real site on the interwebz. It would be nice if Meth could get it deleted, which I believe he tried doing.

There is a Niketalk facebook page? Hmm, I came from lurking, might go check it out it can't be that bad.

I just use it to talk to people, check events etc. There's no point in deleting it as it'd only be a disadvantage.

Like any other social media site it's what you make of it.

Maybe because I'm older (28) and most of my FB friends are well educated but I rarely see the nonsense some posters complain about

People post about sports, news, partying, traveling, and funny or interesting links and videos.

Easy way to keep in touch with family and friends all over.

Not trying to convince anyone facebook is great or anything but I think the issue is with your friends list vs something innately wrong with the site

^ This.

I like the way Fbook revamped the Groups feature (in response to Google+ circles when it came out), where you can create specific forums and discuss stuff with people (without necessarily adding them as friends and being subjected to all of their other posts).

For example I'm a science group that posts/discusses recently published journals, research papers, etc. Have been able to meet some really smart people through it :smokin

If you replace your facebook friends with groups or events you are interested in, your newsfeed will be a lot more interesting and informing.

i deleted my FB because it was cheating. It made visits with people I haven't physically seen in months less enjoyable because i knew everything they'd been doin on FB. Then i was keepin in touch with ppl that never really acknowledged me in real life except for being near me during school. Then it felt like i was doin stuff in life just to post it on FB to see if other ppl liked it, not good
I deleted mine awhile back. I couldn't be bothered. It's awful. It's a vapid wasteland of look-at-me-ness.

I don't care what you are drinking. I don't care about the thing your kid did that you think is incredible despite every other kid doing the same thing at some point. I don't care about the dead person you are missing today. "Look at me grieving publicly. Please LIKE my grief" I don't care about your political leanings. I don't care that what your god has done for you today. I don't care what you hope your god does for you tomorrow. I don't care how fast your kid is growing up. You know why? All kids grow up and you know this because you are hoping to garner a LIKE out of your supposed astonishment. I don't care about your 'hilarious' e-card that either hints at a) your promiscuity or b) your love for alcohol or c) both.
If you replace your facebook friends with groups or events you are interested in, your newsfeed will be a lot more interesting and informing.

I deleted my facebook awhile ago too.

There's just some people that shouldnt come across your everyday life. Facebook makes it REAL easy for them to do so.

I weighed the Good and the Bad from facebook and the BAD out weighed the good by FAR.

People you should NEVER have met or people you should forget about. That's all facebook provides.

Don't get me wrong it has its good usefulness. But it aint eem worth it.
Welcome to the new generation

Your either outgrowing your peers or your just being socially awkward
I deleted my Facebook 4 months ago.
I came to realize that i just didn't care about what other people were doing.
At first i did feel weird not knowing what was going in the loop but then i realized i still have most peoples phone number
I agree with you OP I hate facebook but eh, I'll keep mines. Why don't you just post one of those exciting *** stories I've seen you post on here, one of those are bound to get likes? Unless...

Facebook is so 2006. Seriously, between:

-The countless useless updates for the most irrelevant, frivolous things
-Dudes thirsting over pretentious, prude, or attention seeking females
-People with 8000 friends, of which they know 4
-People humble bragging about things no one wants or likes
-Dudes (my friends included) friending a bunch of girls they don't even know in a pathetic attempt to get buns/stare at pics/fap/stalk
-Useless, STUPID games I am invited to
-Useless, STUPID apps I am invited to
-Useless, STUPID events I am invited to
-Privacy issues
-Awful interface

That should cover it. Facebook is the modern myspace, a gimmick that ran its course. Twitter has sustainability, facebook doesn't.
Permanently deleted mine a year or two ago. Ain't eem looked back. Feels good man.

i keep fb to keep up with my siblings and see my niece grow other than that i try to stay off it but i admit i do check it like everyday. And while i check it i see those stupid photos or status that gets tons of likes. 8o :x :{ what type of status did you used to post though OP??

I feel you OP. I think you did the right thing spacing yourself from it. I quit using my facebook years ago also. Its main purpose right now is only being used for me to log into my yahoo fantasy sports league. But beyond that, I rarely ever log in anymore. I quit using it because I saw where it was going. In other words, practically integrated into our everyday lives. I cant stand people who live on it. Posting every single detail of their life on it. Kids these days post some of the most UN-appropraite stuff on this there its sickening to me. Maybe its just me because i'm old school.

so true, but in todays society some people feel like social networking is everything. its sad but because of these social media and networking sites, its easy for people to become what they are not and its people like OP who take it serious and loose self esteem over it.
From what I personally seen and witnessed most people use these sites to basicly humble brag about mostly everything, and it makes legit sincere people like OP feel like maybe they dont or havent accomplished much.... Thats just how I see it.

Agree 100%

deleted the fb app on my phone. to be more productive. i wasted so much time on that thing. reading about crap mediocre people posted. id check every 20 mins everyday. just to scroll until the post i first saw 20 mins ago. did this for YEARS. it actually feelsgoodman that i didnt see fb today.

not gonna delete it though. that takes effort lol. just wont use it. ill keep it for msgs and reaching out to relatives when need be.

i was contemplating trying out twitter and instagram once i get a new phone. but ill be so late, and is pretty much the same thing. talking to yourself on the internet.

That's the point I'm trying to make, lames band together in dramatic numbers to discount your success and make sure you lose in a sense.
I remember one time being over a friends house and they told me someone was talking bad about me for no reason.

So as a test we posted an "accomplishment" and more than 5 mins later the friend gets a message "you seen that? lol? I'm not liking it just because it's him". Then 2 more messages, of the same level of hate.

It's disgusting that you're so miserable you want people to feel like you inside because they refuse to suck at life and lose. Is that a reason to hate someone?

Haven't had my facebook for a few years. It feels good to be off the grid like that, so to speak. I don't really mess with Twitter or Instagram either. Essentially...NT is where 95% of my "surfing" is spent. Up to the minute updates for sports and news so I this is my social media. :lol

I hate when you get friend requests from people who you're not even cool with. :{

I've had a couple of people request me and even though I've seen them in a class, I've never even spoken to them in real life. I just let the requests sit.

I only check FB during my lunch now so it's whatever. I rarely reply to messages unless it's for a group project :lol

a lot of showboating and sexual innuendo i can do without. Theres just too much of it that it isnt funny, its purely to get attention.

I agree 100% with using competition driving you to do better. However, competing with folks over materialistic things such sneaks and chains seems more like a case of "keeping up with the Joneses" to me. But of course that is just my humble opinion....

I have been downsizing my friends list lately. Back then, when I originally joined FB, I started adding people liberally from my fellow high school graduates and other high schoolers below my class, to people from college that I was interested in meeting. The ones that I have unfriended are those that I don't really talk to, those that are attention ******, and those who have been inactive on FB for quite some time. The people who have been close to me since HS or college and those who are members of my family are those that I keep in touch with the most. To be clear and honest, I have admittedly been guilty of being an *** when it comes to status updates during my first few years on FB. But things have changed as I have gotten older, such as my personal interests and my future. At one point I had over 1,000 "friends". :lol

I check it quite every day but I have been on the down low lately due to grad school and work. I pretty much understand the inherent risk that when you have established yourself long enough on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc., you will have to accept the fact that some of the "friends" you've added years earlier will no longer care about you, unfriend you, and move on.

I'm only still on facebook because of all the shoe and tattoo groups I am in and pages I like. I want to just delete all my "friends" but I am sure they will all take it the wrong way
