Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

what's really got me hot about this fake outrage about the Jay/NFL thing is that people are saying things like he disrespected Kap

Bruh Kap took a ****ing settlement from the NFL :lol:, in exchange for info to not go public. How exactly is Jay wrong for taking money from the NFL & trying to use it to help.

*****s just love "statements" with no plans of actual change involved.

_’s talking like Kaep nem just cashed the **** out on some Tracy Morgan ****

After 2+ years him and Eric together got less than 10m my _, meaning each team likely only had to pay about 300k each, obviously a drop in the ******* bucket for them. A big chunk of that 10m is going to legal fees as we already know

So at the end of the day he coming home with less than he likely would’ve made in 1 season (let alone 2), still ain’t got a job and likely never will in the NFL again. Not exactly a huge win bruh

Collusion cases are damn near impossible cause the burden of proof is squarely on your shoulders and it’s difficult to come up with hard proof without written ****. So he was likely strongly advised by his counsel to take the settlement considering the circumstances

People bringing up the NDA sound dumb as hell too. You not settling out with a huge *** company like the NFL without a NDA being part of the conversation

As far as HOV, I love bruh as much as the next man but we gotta call a spade a spade

Jay does have quite a history of using his money & influence to try & get **** done tho, so i don't know what the outrage is really about

What exactly is the alternative continue to hang on to the "symbol" and completely ignore that this NFL protest hasn't accomplished a thing

Has the NFL seen significant losses? have they changed their stance on on police brutality? Have more players decided to strike? have police been held more accountable for their actions? Have they investigated and got rid of any of the racist guys in the FO's?

Outside of "bringing attention" to the issue (as if black kids getting killed on camera routinely on the news didn't already bring attention to the issue) what else was going to be accomplished by this protest. I really want to know what tangible thing to help the black community has been sabotaged by Jay making this deal?

Jay BEEN TELLING YA"LL from the beginning of his career he's a capitalist so i'm not even sure why that's surprising to anyone in the first place. Secondly, Jay having a partnership and him & his agency helping to oversee how the NFL allocates money to different community causes could lead to actual tangible things being done.

In case ya'll haven't noticed for the past 200+ years America as a whole does not give a singular **** about the oppression of black people here, it's not that they don't know or that their unaware... they don't give a **** & a portion of them adhere to to it. So this constant system of "bringing awareness" really hasn't proven to move the needle.

What moves the needle is capital, point blank period. Capitalism rules this world, not morality. it may be unfortunate but that's the reality we live in. NFL don't give a **** about supporting these community causes because it doesn't help their bottom line, that isn't bringing them money in. This partnership with Jay however will, so they're going to open up those checks & those connections. It's now Jay's responsibility to guide those connections & money to the proper spaces in order to help the community out.

What's been hilarious about this all is that a big part of the criticism i see is that the NFL bought Jay in as a way to ease the public & players & get them to remain quiet about injustice. I wouldn't be surprised if that works for some people.... but the thing is if all it took was Jay-Z saying "the NFL is cool again" to stop someone from protesting or speaking out... then clearly that person never really gave a **** about progress in the first place :lol: & were never gonna get **** accomplished.

I'm not really moved either way and I would hope everyone's intention and end goal here is to make things better for this country as a whole but again we don't know any of these people. You have an opinion cool, but this trend I'm starting to see where its a **** you attitude unless you get **** cleared with Kapernick or his people is ridiculous.

this only strengthens my point tho bro,

What was the purpose of taking the settlement at All?? especially if they bar you from talking about the collusion they displayed publicly. It's not like Kap was hurting for money what was the purpose of this **** if you weren't gonna get back in the league anyway

I thought the whole point of Kap vs the NFL was to bring their tactics to the light? they gave him a check & ensured that none of the specific details would come to light. I honestly don't have a problem with him doing that because he's another one who has proven to put his money back into the community so that cash is gonna go further in regards to tangible actions then this "boycott" ever would.

I'm just trying to figure out the logic of those who are angry at Jay, acting as if he slighted Kap. When Kap has took a settlement for his silence (in regards to the NFL) & is openly still campaigning to play for the league.... when the league hasn't made any real changes throughout this entire "protest". It's selective outrage man.

I'm still waiting to here from these people how Jay's deal with the NFL stops any of Kap's moves or any other player in the league from taking a stand? How can their mind compute Jay being a sellout for a deal with the NFL, but Kap took money in exchange for a muzzle & is still actively looking to sign another contract with the same exact league.

Not to mention he got a new Nike deal awhile back, this is the same Nike that responded to NFL protest with a cop appreciation discount..... the same Nike that has been caught several times for illegal labor.

Jay took a deal with a company that does foul business, just like damn near every other person who is criticizing him over this deal & turning the blind eye to the partnerships their involved in

Jemele Hill, Sean ******* King ?? they ain't ever take a check from a company with questionable practices??

You right - post prison Gucci got the same toothpick build doing crime stopper vids and getting sonned religiously, from rap artist to Mayweather’s ghostwriter

Wop been doing some corny *** features dawg :lol

It's not even a bad thing, he should take full advantage of his reach but ya'll need to keep it consistent if we clowning rappers for doing "un-hood stuff".

Nobody knows the full details of Kaeps settlement. That's the point of a non-disclosure. Just going by what the rumors are. I'm still waiting for people to say what their realistic goal is with all this ****? What's the outcome ya'll wanted? Cuz people just be talking but not really saying anything.

Like I said Roc Nation has been managing NFL players this whole time. That's why I didn't react when Jay turned down doing the superbowl. People was giving him props, I was just like whatever. Why are _'s just now like "OMG Hov how can you work with them". The internet really forces people to jump on trends, even when it's late news.

Judging by some peoples reaction if Goddell threw that diamond up it would jump start the next recession

Bro

If you think Kap “took a settlement in exchange for his silence” I can’t even get into this with you on a deeper level

Please tell me what was the purpose of taking the settlement then... you claimed it was for a minuscule amount of money so that wasn't the motivation.

Reports all seemed to lean towards his lawyers having some proof of collusion & proof of the NFL blackballing him. very possible his team would have lost in court, that's cool. they would have still been able to share that information with the public/media and substantiate with concrete evidence, how discriminatory these NFL owners are.

But instead he took the settlement & the NDA, and is still willing to sign a deal with the NFL and represent a team. So again what was the purpose of him taking the settlement ?
