Now that the NFL has Jay-Z’s blessing, it’s conceivable that some of those entertainers who distanced themselves from the NFL might change their mind. Jay-Z has given the NFL exactly what it wanted: guilt-free access to black audiences, culture, entertainers, and influencers.
-from Jemelle Hill's article.

This is the sort of speculative-based "facts" that people use for their benefit and criticize when it goes against the narrative they're trying to paint. Entertainers who "might change their mind" because of this deal somehow has a direct correlation with the NFL regaining their black audience?

The amount of reaching going on right now is straight comical and sad.

A month ago everyone was applauding Jay for reaching a billi. Now it's **** Jay Z for making a business move that stands to benefit the hip hop culture.

Folks would really rather protest themselves to death rather than seeing someone take a step in the direction of progress. ****** really be out here lost, man.

Protest and forget seems to be our main strategy for change. We haven't learned ****

Former cocaine kingpin who helped found label Death Row Records is set to be released from prison

Former cocaine kingpin Michael 'Harry O' Harris, who helped found Death Row Records, the label behind music legends Dr Dre, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg, is set to be released from prison after 31 years behind bars, DailyMailTV can reveal.

The former drug king helped run a multi-million dollar rap music empire from his cell after founding the parent company for Death Row Records with a $1.5 million investment.

Alongside his dealings with the cartels, Harris ran a string of successful legitimate businesses, including a theater company that gave actor Denzel Washington his first break.

Harris was convicted of attempted murder and kidnapping in 1988 but has since reinvented himself as an activist while inside, campaigning for prison reform.

The 57-year-old is currently being held at a Federal Correctional Facility in Lompoc, California but is expected to be released in mid August before being transferred to a half-way house in San Antonio, Texas - the city where his daughter Mykel

If he didn't do prison time this man would have been a big player in entertainment. He already making a name before.

The financial arrangements have not been made public.
But whatever the numbers, the NFL’s new partnership with Jay-Z is a huge win for the league. Some of the biggest celebrities in the world have voiced their support of Kaepernick, saying they would boycott the NFL until Kaepernick is back in the league.

a few paragraphs later...

I get that Jay-Z might see this as an opportunity for artists to connect with the NFL’s immense audience. He could also offer some incredible insight and direction to the league on the social-justice front, since he’s been actively engaged in such work for a long time. I also understand that, to become hip-hop’s first billionaire, Jay-Z didn’t always have the luxury of avoiding relationships and partnerships with people he disagreed with or disliked.

But in this case, Jay-Z isn’t getting enough out of the deal to justify the sacrifice of some of his credibility. This alliance plays right into the NFL’s hands, because the league seems determined to banish any memory of Kaepernick with its recent social-justice efforts—even though it’s likely that Jay-Z and the NFL wouldn’t even be entering into this arrangement if Kaepernick hadn’t taken a knee in 2016.

The details of the deal aren't public, but we've got this chick writing a whole think piece on the matter. This is the sort of thing people will take to justify their bs rhetoric when asked why they're upset with the move Hov's made.

Some things, wasn't the purpose of the lawsuit to find out if there was a conspiracy to blackball players?

Them settling before it even went to court and then the NDA allowed the NFL not to admit or disclose anything, and continue business as usual.

So what was the purpose of the lawsuit? To change things, get Kaep a job or win?

This not to you specifically since you actually asking a question, but this is kinda why it’s hard to get into stuff on here. A lot of ppl talking with confidence about **** without even knowing what’s going on

This case wasn’t necessarily to unveil to the world some conspiracy/and or tactics to blackball players

The purpose of the case was Kap felt teams and/or the league violated the CBA by colluding to blackball him out of the league and millions of dollars. So he filed a grievance asking the league to determine if two or more teams (or 1 team in conjunction with the NFL) had colluded to keep him out. They denied any wrongdoing so it became up to him to prove this was true

If this was found to be true, like I said it violates the CBA. Per the CBA, he would’ve been entitled to compensation in the form of (close to) double the money he would’ve made in the league the past two seasons. Eric Reid who joined Kap in protest started feeling the same way and filed his own grievance that was joined with Kap’s.

That’s the basics of it. _’s felt like they were blackballed out of millions and filed a collusion grievance in a attempt to ultimately recoup those millions plus more as stipulated in the CBA.

This specific case wasn’t to get him on a team or to change things. Those are separate but related things that they’re also still fighting for and shouldn’t be conflated with this specific case

Like I said earlier tho, these collusion cases are notoriously hard cause the burden of proof is on you. It’s not like they sending out emails like “ay man don't sign Kap”. It’s a lot of moving parts and it’s extremely difficult to prove, which is presumably why they decided to ultimately settle for less than what they were seeking

Eric Reid sounds super salty. Like Jay said kneeling brought awareness now what’s your next move? Nike shirts and settling out of court with an NDA? And since him and Kaep haven’t really gained any traction in a minute Jay is using his platform and power to try and address it from the inside. And what the **** has J Hill done to get the movement going? You can talk all you want and hold up signs but money and power talk and Kaep, Reid, Hill and a bunch of others lack those 2 assets.

Some of her comments about black men have had me look funny at her anyway.

No one’s to say. Only he can speak on that. The public can either believe he’s moving for himself, or if he’s trying to change things for the hip hop culture.

This is my sentiment. Hov hasn’t done anything in the vein of being on some Uncle Tom, **** **** that makes me look at him in that light.

And you’re right. In the end, nobody cares (shout out to a Bronx Tale). Cats are fake outraged today. If actionable changes are proven to have been made, the masses are going to have convenient amnesia about the slander they gave him, and end up talking that “Jay had a bigger picture in mind” or “Jay been told y’all he’s a business, man.”

Masses ain't gonna do that, they gonna literally just ignore anything positive that happens from this deal & continue to go with whatever matches their agenda. People consistently treat BLACK celebs like it's a either or option.

You either gotta be ready to be a Martyr on some Malcolm X **** or your a an uncle tom shucking & Jiving. Point blank Jay has done some **** that has negatively effected our culture, he has also done a lot of great **** to positively impact our culture. People seem to want this story book super hero & the world just don't work like that. You want true independence you need a very strong foundation & jay is building that foundation one step at a time.

Pretty much sums up my feelings, if I had to choose a side.

People are just short-sighted on these issues (understandably).

I imagine having the black community spending their time debating the merits of Jay Z is exactly what THEY want, but never mind logic.
