Lupe never wanted to sign with anyone because he was pushing his own imprint 1st & 15th, but HOV was an executive producer on Food & Liquor just off the strength of them ******* with each other so heavy (Fiasco has called Jay his mentor multiple times). Touch The Sky was also a major look and shortly after that he just took off. He got plenty of media attention it just wasn't as long as others

D.I.T.C. is one of the greatest rap groups of all time!...and "Day One" isn't even one of my favorites.
You may have never heard that joint or much D.I.T.C. because they purposefully released mostly all their stuff
exclusively on vinyl until after L passed. Their stuff was designed to be heard by the underground...to be kept underground.
