Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

They're going to say reference. (Tupac, Biggie, Snoop, Nas, B.G..)

But how we ignore him stealing the 'bounce' southern style of music to crossover...

he aint steal nothing the South just always gonna have the bounce and soul. Pharrell and Timbo just had it.

“I’m from Virginia where ain’t **** to do but cook”

The game in general been moving towards the South since cash money/master p.

:lol classic

but i mean it aint like hov was hopping on rico wade and lil jon beats looking out of place.

at the time this came out im pretty sure the only south music hov made was his couple songs with timbo and the ha remix. if this came out in 01 right

but i woulda been in kindergarten at the time so maybe theres more context here that I’m missing. but i’d assume they were talking bout someone else.

always wondered who they were getting at when i first heard that.

I am referencing the song "Can I get a What...", which wasn't produced by Pharrell and Timbo. Think this was around '98 (Senior Year of HS for me :lol)

And FYI Virginia is not considered the SOUTH - DMV y'all way off the SOUTHERN map, b.

Hard Knock was definitely the bigger song for him. Mad people also thought Can I was a Ja song or Amil song.

I can’t remember which song was first.

That Ha! Remix he did was hot trash.

Baby should of gotten a refund for that..

“I got guns that go braatt, braatt.”

At one point, I felt like Pimp C when he hated Jigga. (F that Big Pimpin’ track and F Jay-Z)

The man didn’t even give a full 16 nor showed up for the video shoot.

Pimp C didn’t want to do it, ***** had his own separate video shoot cause he didn’t show up to the original. Pimp C hated a lot of people and always spoke his mind. The industry needs another pimp C right now

He did eventually thank Jay-z though cause he realized it helped them.

There's part of NYC, Jersey and Baltimore that's hella country...

Still not the south.

Sorry, I'm with Pimp C on this one.

its crazy because for me that specific flute and the way it sounded made the beat. if be used a flute from like purity or omni or some **** it wouldnt be the same.

and as an fl user i wuld have never know that was a stock sound.

but tbh i feel like the stock sounds are better than some of these too EDM ish sounding presets from VSTs like nexus or serum.

but dam that beat is crazy thougt pierre did it.

I can feel that, I’ve personally heard all those GarageBand Jam Pack loops hundreds of times so it turn me off so as I can recognize it :lol

Some of these stock sounds are good tho. It just depend on your philosophy and what sound you tryna accomplish
