Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I saw that big confederate flag on 95 when I had to drive my girl back home to VA.

There's still a lot of small towns here in GA where you don't want to be caught DWB after dark.

I remember seeing that joint the first time I was driving down to Florida with my moms. Think I was about 12 at the time. Didn’t understand what it was, but I always shake my head in retrospect.

But outside of Atlanta and some of the surrounding areas, Georgia is for the birds as far as that racist **** goes. It’s always funny when I hear people saying they need to move to GA because Atlanta is “the black Hollywood”. F around and pick the wrong city and you’re in for some ****. I remember having to move to Valdosta for a month for my old job. Never experienced any **** like that on my life. :smh:

So if you're from the south and rapping, aren't you taking northern style? And southern artist weren't working with northern artist?

This is a redundant conversation, and you don't see it. Yet, you don't think it's that deep. Some of you act like you were at the Source Awards the way you reference it. Whitney Houston got booed at the Soul Train awards once upon a time...ok, and. The fans wanted someone else to win.

Who directed this?

Puffy directed the video.

I'm not sure if you're using that as a part of this discussion. If so, that could have been the label's call.. My Aunt was an A&R for Laface records when Outkast was founded. I was introduced to Outkast and had it first single before it went on the radio. LaFace was really trying to get them pushed on scene hard but because NYC dominated the radio waves, it was difficult in the beginning. I say this to say, any influence of NYC during that time, was only to help Outkast get their big break.

Didn't have to be at the source awards, I grew up during that time and watched it on television...Read the source, listened to interviews, etc.

The North was clearly isolating themselves from the south.

Hence now they're having an identity crisis now. (NYC)

man did i see what they did here giving my dogg eyeliner and pink lips or am i looking too hard?

I am referencing the song "Can I get a What...", which wasn't produced by Pharrell and Timbo. Think this was around '98 (Senior Year of HS for me )

And FYI Virginia is not considered the SOUTH - DMV y'all way off the SOUTHERN map, b.

damn i just saw that irv gotti produced it and i see what u saying although that probably aint hov’s call to be like gimme a southern beat lol.

new york always fails when they try to do knock off south beats instead of staying in that grimy subway project hallway sound which has variations in itself or the other side and use the shiny big sampled justblaze heatmakers sound

Watch while you can

Damn. This is primetime rape behavior according to her.

Unless some notice is revealed on her part I gotta believe her.

I just dont get why he so badly wants a 15 yr old to drink. How old was he at this time?

Also in what state can you have consensual sex with a 15 yr old? Just read that in somebody's post.

Aubrey just a Jew that steals from blacks, it’s nothing new

That interview was hard to listen to. I’m curious to see what happens. We’ve seen people in media lose their jobs over much less, I’m expecting a lot of excuses and hypocrisy
Damn. Just stripping that man of his blackness with the blatant antisemitism.

EGHCK!

It was pure comedy. Radio used to be comedy gold back then. Now people tweet. It ain't the same.

Pap sounded like superman, he fought ten people by himself. Then was all diplomatic at the end.

Pap is the dude who wants to defend his girl, but didn't really want to fight, but doesn't want to look bad to her.

I always thought Cassidy sounded scared and he didn't want any problems.
That's a tough *** spot to be in. Especially when it's 18 overweight Puerto Ricans. I feel for Pap, man. He's a good dude, but he just ain't built like that. Ain't nothing wrong with that. I'm not built for defending my girl's honor against the Terror Squad either, b.

Cass was definitely worried about being mixed up in this inter-borough beef ****.

Masterful.

Drake already been toeing the line of taking more from the culture than he puts in. The blackface **** just pushed it over the top for me.

If the ***** acted like he cared about the things that effect regular black folk on a daily basis, and didn't just throw in a token Trump line to check off the box, I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this black face thing...but nah.

After his "we don't see color in Canada, we don't learn to hate" comments I been looking at dude real funny.

Right.

You wanna tell me y'all don't see color, but you also wanted to express the plight of black actors in Canada by throwing on blackface and a Jim Crow tee to make a 'statement.'

****** gotta get their story straight.

i was ready for the woke Drake bars finally giving us some perspective on the whole dynamic of his racial identity in the wake of that blackface ****. i thought that was gonna be his side A rather than him nanananaboobooing Kanye and pusha for an hour.

I'm really surprised he went this route. It's quite possibly one of the top 10 lamest things I've ever seen in Rap history.

He was better off ignoring that entire thing.

i liked 8 out of 10 but that plies interlude instead of the beat switch and going in on them boys...i told my bro when we first was bumping it that **** is funny on first listen but in a week or two we gonna look at how he handled it as hella corny.

emotionless was cool. the jay chess move was cool. but i still wanted him to directly just go off.

dude talking about sending hits and all types of hot street **** on multiple songs but scared to say that bro is gay or that he ****** kim or whatever is this “my girlfriend goes to another school” *** ******** he’s pulling about having something to expose about Kanye.

I can’t front tho he ate the Behind Barz freestyle.

Drake gave us some woke bars on his first diss to meek mill “charged up”

“Cops are killing people with they arms up,
And your main focus is tryna harm us”

He prolly aint write that though.

i meant to put this in my post up there that the only time we ever heard him reference any type of pro black ethos is when he is in a beef.

Drake makes eyeroll music. 8 outta 10 is so garbage to me. Is it you're lucky I'm a good guy or is it mob ties? And then he makes a song about superficial ig thots and their first world problems and his stans go nuts. Lol

lol at nobody still addressing how he put that louie bag line in there just to fw X’s fans  ski mask tryna get that verse he say he aint worried bout all that. thats supposed to b your mans and you at least dont ask him about it?

such an out of place song in general because he really trying to vicariously jump off the porch almost in his mid 30s via his OVO extorters.

I know Joe made the whole analogy about Drake going after "the person who sent the hitman (Pusha) instead of the hitman himself" but I think that's a scapegoat reply.

Drake knows he can't lyrically keep up with Push or find anything damaging about him so he's choosing to go after the easier target. For the record, F Ye too ...lol

When I heard the line about "losing your life" from him...I couldn't do anything but shake my head :smh:

I also find it funny when people say Pusha went the chatty patty route...when it sounds like whatever Drake is hiding and was "about" to reply with is just as chatty patty according to all of the "rumors" out there. Again, once you remove Infrared/Duppy/Adidon from everything...you're left with a really strange passive-aggressive beef between 2 of the softest ****** of all time. I really think them 2 ****** used to date or something.

even if he played them march 14th im not understanding did he expect push to forget about 2 birds 1 stone?

dude is either naive or smart enough to know the domino effect of him giving that camp that info. i wouldnt even be around them ****** if i knew i didnt rock with THE PRESIDENT OF THE LABEL lol

I cringed through the whole thing. That whole ‘you mad’ thing has always just been a way to shift focus. It’s corny, but it falls right in line with Drakes MO.

How you initiate the battle by responding, then back out on some ‘oh you mad, I’m chillin’ nonsense.

I’d bet his fans don’t take issue with that type of stuff, though. Some people were going to excuse Drake no matter what he did.

He just better keep his *** in the kiddy pool from now on, though. Where J Prince can keep an eye out for him and watch for other kids playing too rough.

:lol yeah adidon was a good shock value first listen but i remember seeing dude on an interview right after it dropped and he seemed way too excited about doing this TMZ wendy williams expose on drake that really had nothing to do with nothing once u get ur initial jokes and memes off. i think dude literally said verbatim “we need an explanation” :lol

i wanna say it was big boy or the LA show with the fat mexican and the big titty latina and lowkey i think its the same show.
