President to propose free community college on Friday

:lol And for the record I'm 100% in agreement with what folks are saying about the military, do not agree with ME662 at all before folks start lumping me in with his views.

Never that, I'm still sick we just fought two wars we had no business fighting and we're still fighting proxy wars.

:lol I'm over here arguing a different argument, IDK what dude is really on honestly.

:lol I stopped paying attention to that dude when he said "my boy sold loud to get through college ". Lmao man,c'mon.

Then please go live on a secluded island or refrain from using everything in this country that tax payers pay for.

:lol Nah I'm good, I rather our nation reroute that money they're using for funding illegal wars back into education, infrastructure, science and job creation.

I'm essentially in agreement with the cause, just not with the means famb.

That's all.

should've read on when I cited folks who worked their way college. so, yeah....there's them too.

Exactly my point. You're cool with everybody who pays taxes helping fund your trip to shoot paper targets but helping education is a stretch? Pathetic

Funding what I do isn't just free money. I have a job and earn my living. You're comparing apples to oranges here.
It's ironic you think funding the military is more important than education when the reason you joined the military is because you couldn't fund your education
can-t-stop-won-t-stop-o.gif

To look at it with the same corporate accounting cost cutting model you want the government to have, if you aren't over there fighting, why do we need you?
It's pure ignorant stupidity like this that makes you guys lose all credibility. You guys actually believe that the entire military are infantrymen out in gun fights. smh

I could, if I wanted to be a wage slave the rest of my life. You're comparing working and earning what I have and my benefits to just being handed free education, which is what you want. Even further it that you're trying to say I didn't earn it and that it was just free, which isn't true, and is exactly what YOU actually want the government to do. Talk about pure ignorance.

Also I never stated defense spending is more important than education. It should be cut back to save money, and free education should be out of the picture, period. The US is broke. Stop acting entitled, and like you're owed anything.

There's nothing ignorant about not wanting to learn how to shoot a gun to get a education. The only reason you joined the military is because you couldn't get a free education so now you just sound bitter. You're acting like you weren't looking for a free education as well :lol It'll be alright bro I know you work really hard in that camo surfing NT.

That's real talk.

A lot of military types on that holier than thou ********. "Freedom isn't free" nonsense when they didn't even take the time to understand the issues at hand at why we're really at war.

90% of 'em did it for the $$$ and the benefits. FOH with that BS they be barking.

Holla at me when there's a just war to be fought, then I'll commend them.

Get your emotions in check, I know the military and the moving parts, that it's not black and white. Simply playing devils advocate because I also know impoverished folks, and there are a lot of moving parts to their life as well, but you and your cohorts want to single them out as not deserving, no matter what. You want them to justify why our tax dollars should go to assist them, so why not you? They benefit you as well. What do you do you that's more rewarding than helping someone with education to get them to a higher tax bracket where the cost of that education will be repaid many times over? Good to see you break down to the base level showing your lack of intelligence though with the name calling.

-brohug, I appreciate the discussion man always when it's just positive points both ways and no angry childish name calling ish

also I agree that they should reroute the money they already have in different ways but if they say it's coming from my taxes I wouldn't go boycott it you know? :lol

oh no doubt fam. I'm always down for a good debate on NT, keeps the brain on point.

#EmbraceDebate.

I think it's a great idea. Having a chance at a quality education should be a opportunity that everyone has a shot at with the individuals putting in the time and effort of course, and not a select few. Sometimes, families don't have means to send their kids to college for whatever reasons, but that shouldn't make the kid or kids involved ineligible for a shot at a chance to pursue a education at the college level. Who knows, some of these kids could be very instrumental of the progression of the country meaning future engineers, scientists, and so on they just need the opportunity.

I'm not bitter about anything. I just dislike the entitled attitude of most lazy Americans, like you. My gripe with this is that we don't have the money for it. Why is that so hard for you to wrap your head around? You brought the military into this trying to insult me, not the other way around. Your point isn't even valid (not that you ever had a point) since those in the armed forces have earned what they have. You just want it for free without having to earn it.

No one is being singled out. No one is entitled to completely free education past high school. It's that simple.

Who's this "we"? You mean YOU? I'd be willing to pay slightly higher taxes if I knew it was going towards this. They could raise them for more worthless reasons.

Even if they don't raise taxes, the government always seems to have enough money to finance some foolishness. They can pay for this as well.

As for your little comment on military men earning what they have, as long as a student keeps their GPA high enough they'll have earned it as well. It's also been stated that tying these "free" rides to Community Service is being considered. “Put simply, what I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for everyone who’s willing to work for it.” They're not just gonna give people money to take the same damn class 3 times.

Your last sentence doesn't even make sense. **** would helium go to CC for? He already has a 4 year degree.

Going to a CC would be hustling backwards

If you're going to accuse someone of something at least make sure it makes sense first.

What makes anyone entitled to it up to high school?

A 2.5 gpa is nothing.

Want it as in the supposed program, for whoever 'qualifies.'

You try to take Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, C++, Physics for Scientists & Engineers III, and an art class all in one semester and get back to me on that.
I doubt this program is would make students take more difficult classes to qualify for the 2.5 gpa requirement because that would be too 'hard.'

You originally wanted it for free without earning it but couldn't find a way to so you joined the military. Now you feel better about yourself man please :lol
