Pastor Creflow Dollar is asking for 60 million to purchase new G6 to spread the gospel across the gl

Since this is kinda on topic..

What religion did Africans practice before they were forced into Christianity?

no particular religion they were spiritual.... and the teachings of the moors.

Thats a loaded question, but Africa is a large continent with many nations, cultures and tribes. A simple Google search or a trip to a museum would show that there were multiple pagan religions in Africa throughout history.

This is one of the links discussing what I'm getting at.

I read your link. Interesting stuff, but I am unclear by what your position is. I'm not arguing for or against what you posted either. It's just something I would have to research more. Either way, what are you trying to show me?

My point is that we have no idea what the text is saying when we read an English translation. In fact, even if we have background information, the meaning is ambiguous (as shown in that link). These are just two verses out of the whole bible.

How can anyone study a translation of the bible? It seems to me like you need significant education just to begin guessing what the bible is says.

But that is where I am confused to what your conclusion is. Yes, there are translation errors throughout different versions, but the message is still the same in each of them. God a designated any sex outside of the marriage of a man and woman is sin.

I think I'm finally getting it.
Yall (non African Americans) think we (African American Christians) still believe the lies we were told about God and his plans for the white man and his family to still have complete control of our lives. And it's hard for you to believe anything else because you've been taught that all of your lives.
If you notice they always reference the African American church as "those POOR PEOPLE(as in financially poor) giving their last dime to a so called preacher". That's why you have non-African Americans on here commenting as though they have studied black history, but the reality is they just like talking down about black people.

We (African Americans) still have this notion that to serve Christ means you are serving the "white man's God", and the last thing an intellectual strong willed African American wants to do is agree with anything the people who have plotted to keep them downtrodden believes in.
This leads to a separation of our people because those that don't follow the Christian faith, see all African American Christians as the enemy because they presume we have accepted the "white man's religion". Completely discrediting the fact that the Bible clearly references the beginnings of time and civilization were established on what's now the continent of Africa, and all the people in the old testament belonged to tribes.

Furthermore to assume and insinuate that my ancestors that were brought to this country and forced to build this country for free, were so dumb and weak that a few sentences in a book made them stay and take beatings, lynchings and rapings is the most self degrading bull**** an African American can believe about their own people. I expect other races to believe that bull**** because it fits their mythological mindset that they are superior to the Black man and woman. But if you're African American and subscribe to that idiocy, your slippin and have allowed them to divide and conquer once again.

Last but not least, there's this laughable notion that African American Christians are submissive and soft. Let me help yall with that.

Step to me wrong I'm knocking out your teeth. Make a move like you are attempting to harm my family and your toe gettin tagged. Is that submissive enough for you? #godbless #jesussaves #turntheothercheek #getyoazzknockedthefuuuout

Mathew 22, verses 38-40:

And Jesus said, love thy neighbor as you love yourself,
but if that man come at you sideways, then he can catch the fade

My conclusion is that it's difficult to know what the bible is saying even if you understand the original languages and the historical context.

How can you say the message is the same if there are errors in the translation? You don't know what the message is if there are errors in the translation.

Because all of them show that God has established any sex not under the umbrella of a man and woman who are married to one another is sin. Are you saying because of the information from the link you provided that homosexuality would not be outside that umbrella?

Think he misinterpreted the turn the other cheek verse. I don't think handing out fades was in the next passage.

I'm not saying anything about homosexuality; I am interested in the fact that the English translation deviates from what the verses are (likely) saying. This is a significant error in translation that leads to misunderstanding the verses.

How does one study the bible without significant background information?

But your source is taking on a position and has an agenda of being in favor of homosexuality not being a sin as long as it is in the boundaries of loving relationship correct?

As far as studying the Bible I would say to start with a few practices. First, through prayer and humility, we must rely on the Holy Spirit to give us understanding. Second, we should always study Scripture in its context, recognizing that the Bible explains itself. Third, we should respect the efforts of other Christians, past and present, who have also sought to properly study the Bible. Remember, God is the author of the Bible, and He wants us to understand it.

God is BELIEVED to have been the author of the Bible. As far as undeniable facts go, MAN is the author of every single word in the Bible.

As far as the Bible always explaining itself, it is CHOCK FULL of contradictions:
- Genesis 32:30
"I have seen the face of God."

- John 1:18
"No one has seen the face of God."
