An average joe is not buying a Rolex that's on a waiting list.
Second, authorized dealers have a monthly Rolex quota, when they can't meet that quota is when they sell it to second-hand shops to help meet their numbers.
Assuming this must be for the new sky dwellers, my friend bought one, not that hard to find at a grand over retail. It's crazy how much people crave scarcity items when there's so many great watches out better than Rolex.
My friend's family has 30 years of watch experience and they recommend you do not pay a premium for a Rolex.
I was referring to stainless steel models. I havent checked recently but even back in late 2018 / 2019 most models were scarce at ADs.
Agree that there are many great watches not branded Rolex but this is similar to shoes where there's other great shoes out there but ppl want that swoosh/jumpman.
Personally wouldnt pay a premium either but I know others who do since ADs give them the runaround and if it's resale price isnt that much over, they rather have it sooner just to have it and there's no telling as to whether they will get a call from an AD or not.

Like I said a page or two back, they ban a dude years ago from buying in bulk at outlets. But here, it's not the same thing? The privilege angle is too real. What if dude wasn't a drop out and lived in a modest house and still grinded for moderate gains? I've seen some grind for much less and still get the book thrown at them from a criminal perspective. This is a top 10 Enterprise. They need to investigate all angles and all $$$

Just to play devil’s advocate maybe she was a mother who saw her young son was passionate about what he was doing and she actually wanted to just help him?A lot of parents make mistakes thinking they are doing what is best for the kids just to have the kids being young, dumb and ungrateful end up actually hurting the parents as a result.

You’re either trolling, or from another Star System.

Odds that police or feds take a deeper look? I'm thinking they move on. They're getting the benefit by being almost too rich. If this was two cousins doing this at a smaller scale, they'd be labeled gang members or hustlers, not entrepreneurs.

If addresses are easy to change up, couldn't websites just say one pair per household/credit card number? Do bots run 40-50 CCs too? One could cross reference and find duplicates with relative ease. But to many retailers, a sale is a sale. Onto the next.

Yea I doubt it goes any further. Someone with some major pull would have to apply pressure but we talking about maybe hundreds of thousands dollars to a BILLION dollar company. Now if jit was pulling in Ms, feds would be involved.

I was thinking they’d have to code addresses to the usps standard like on some sites when you enter your address it gives you the official usps version. There’s got to be ways to stop the botting. But nike doesn’t care.

😂 NT users in here really showing where they line up on the modern sneaker resell debate...

On the real side though...He was cleaning up at outlets on discount items, AND using his mommy’s discount on top of that...I’m sure they don’t like the fact that they have to put slow moving merch out at a discount in the first place, let alone when someone is buying out whole stock rooms with an addition discount on top...They want as much profit from a product as they can possibly get...For them to find out somebody is buying their product at a super discount, drying up their inventory, then turning around and selling it off at the desired retail price? Yeah that probably got some people slightly upset...

Second issue they had was that he was selling inside info to his cook group...I guarantee mommy had to sign some type of NDA as part of her position...Big corps like Nike take insider info leaks extremely serious...Looking at it logically, this right here is probably what got her the golden parachute treatment...

As far as Nike’s position on backdooring and botting? Their lack of even acknowledging either is proof positive that they couldn’t care less about where their product goes, as long as they themselves are getting their desired percentage...And that’s what this whole thing boils down to ultimately...Nike didn’t get their cut, and insider info was literally being sold out from under them 🤷‍♂️...Has absolutely zero to do with Joe Schmo sneaker head being upset he couldn’t get those Travis Scott 1’s on SNKRS...

yeah this isnt Nike waking up to some crusade about fairness on SNKRs but the actions of this Mom and Son messed with Nike's money to put it bluntly. Clearly theres alot more to the story than what us internet detectives can put together but she wouldn't have to had walk away otherwise..

Nike absolutely freaks out if you use your Swoosh account buying things for family members or friends and they turn around and sell it. You can also give Swoosh accounts to friends or family members but the minute they abuse that privilege you lose it or get fired. Same thing about visiting the ES. You get caught selling your access passes or selling items you bought from the ES same thing. Homie, wasn't getting Off White and 1s from his mom. I don't care who you are at Nike you aren't getting FSRs of those shoes. I know 20+ year employees at Nike that take Ls for coveted shoes just like you and I.

What that Twitter thread pointed out was that homie was using his moms Swoosh discount to bulk buy and resale on the secondary market which, at least to my knowledge is a BIG no-no. You start buying sizes outside of your own selected shoe size it gets flagged and questions start getting asked. For this kid that clearly wasn't the case. She knew what he was doing. Nike knew what he was doing and they ultimately turned a blind eye to it.

Mans slipped up, was feeling himself and didn't move in silence and he got outed. Nike, got caught with its 'hand in the cookie jar' had to save face and Ann had to fall on the sword. When you do shady stuff or things that are against company policies it will ALWAYS come back around. It never lasts because eventually you slip up.

Nobody is going to jail. This is a BIG deal in the sneaker world but outside of that no one cares. In a month, maybe less I predict this will all be forgotten.

To me, and this is all conjecture, but it seems like Nike execs above mommy might’ve turned a blind eye because of her elevated position in the company...They didn’t realize to what extent momma’s boy was actually exploiting them until the article came out...I believe I read somewhere that he specifically said his insider, who turned out to be mommy, was in a position where she wouldn’t receive backlash for what he was doing...Again all conjecture, but it certainly passes the smell test...

yall do realize she only got punished cus her name and position became publicly linked to the bs.

its Nikes only course of action to the public.

they already said she told nike what was up in 2018.

just think about how many other companies and governing bodies are completely ******* their people.

im ready to burn everything.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

No lies told here. I gifted my swoosh to a few family members and have been called to the carpet in regards to their habits. Thankfully they knew my rep and I simply cancelled my family out.

Often times I was so timid to even buy for myself because they go bonkers. I got pulled in the office one time because they wanted to know how can I wear different shoes everyday on a part time under’s salary. Mind you I had previously worked at another prominent retailer.

I don’t feel the police etc should get involved. It’s just shoes to them. But I do agree that this will blow over like everything else and she’ll be back down the road in a “consultant role”.

I’m not that shocked that some people in this thread are excusing this away like it’s no big deal or acting like “oh y’all didn’t know?” as if having inside knowledge about whatever else is going on at NIKE puts them above the lowly masses that don’t.

I won’t even get into the optics for the company or the glaring differences in the type of coverage these types of crimes (white collar) get over non-white young adults and kids that do little more than break laws where “no one was harmed”.

Disclaimer: I don’t collect shoes and I don’t wake up early for SNKRS releases. I used SNKRS to purchase/attempt to purchase maybe 2 times last year.

All of that out of the way, this seems to be a form of market manipulation (minus the securities part) or price gouging, since the family is directly connected to the manufacturer. It shouldn’t be laughed off and should be investigated since it appears that leadership at NIKE was directly involved in manipulating resell prices.

You are probably right on that. Just like any where else once you reach a certain level within a company you operate on a different set of rules. You don't buy thousands of pairs of shoes in FSR on a Swoosh account and that doesn't get red flagged. This had been going on since 2018 so Nike was well aware of what was going on. This seems like one of those, 'do you understand the risk you are taking' and if something happens 'we will drop your *** in a second' type of moves that Ann made.

Yea nike does care and monitors employees swoosh accounts. Back in 2010 ish I was messing with this chick that worked at the outlet. I'll admit I'm a pos and only talked/messed around with her for that swoosh account. No matter how good I gave her the goods she never let that swoosh go, talking bout " I can lose my job and so so" she respected that swoosh account more than she did herself.
