Tom Rathman is the new RB's coach:

Tom Rathman has accepted the 49ers' offer to take over as the club's running backs coach, he confirmed just moments ago as he was leaving Alameda after clearing out his belongings at the Raiders' complex.

The National Football Post reported the 49ers have named Rathman as the team's new RB coach. The club has yet to make any announcement because Rathman has not signed a contract. The 49ers do not announce contract agreements until the deal has been signed. Update (5:30 p.m.): The 49ers have just confirmed the "agreement."

But Rathman said the club has offered him the position, and he has accepted. He said he will probably sign the contract in Santa Clara tomorrow.

Rathman interviewed for the position earlier today with coach Mike Singletary and general manager Scot McCloughan. Rathman takes over for Tony Nathan, whom Singletary fired after his only season on the 49ers' staff.

Lovin the Rathman signing dude was a beast back in the day. Singeltary bringing in old school coaches to teach being physical and punishing.

Great pick-up

I like Mike's coaching style, and the players seem to really get along good with him. Even Vernon Davis and Singletary appear to be close.

Damnit!!!

Oh well, it would have been nice. From some reports, there are saying that Crabtree could land our way. I'm not sure if he will still be around for us tograb though.

OC interviews continue and Singletary hires his nephew as ILB coach and Al Harris as pass-rush coach:
San Fransisco 49ers interview Dennison for offensive co-ordinator job
16 hours ago

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Denver Broncos offensive co-ordinator Rick Dennison interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday to run their offence.

He's the fourth coach to interview for the job on Mike Singletary's staff that came open when Mike Martz was fired last month.

Former St. Louis coach Scott Linehan, Indianapolis receivers coach Clyde Christensen and Cleveland offensive co-ordinator Rob Chudzinski already have interviewed with Singletary.

Dennison was an assistant to former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan for 14 years, also coaching the offensive line. He won't be retained on new Denver coach Josh McDaniels' staff, but his interview with San Francisco was set up before Shanahan was fired.

The 49ers added two assistant coaches to their defensive staff late Monday, hiring Vantz Singletary as inside linebackers coach and Al Harris as a pass-rush specialist coach.

Vantz Singletary is Mike Singletary's nephew, but he's also a veteran college assistant coach who spent last season as the University of Buffalo's defensive tackles coach.

if crabtree landed @ 10.

i like him and that guy from UNC (hakeem hicks?)

so many needs still, i hope bryant johnson & bruce come back.

i wish, but IMO crabtree goes top 5, but definitely before 10..

i'm hoping malauga or okapko drop to us at 10. that would be so sweet.

Scott Linehan is the leading candidate for the 49ers' offensive coordinator position, and there is a strong chance he will be offered the job this evening, a league source said.

"That's the way it's heading," the source said.

Linehan, the former St. Louis Rams head coach, arrived in the Bay Area this afternoon to meet with coach Mike Singletary and general manager Scot McCloughan for the second time in a week. Linehan has a scheduled return flight tomorrow, and the source said he believes the 49ers' goal is to have a contract agreement with Linehan before he leaves town.

So since we arent getting Taylor Mays, and....lets face it.....Crabtree is NOT falling to us. So where does that leave us?

i dont want Linehan

what do you think guys @ 10: ray malaluga (sp) usc?

ive read a couple mocks of him going to the 9ers, him and pwillis
pimp.gif

So what's good with Michael Vick... Are the niners gonna scoop him up or what??? lol.

I don't want Linehan either.

But then again, all the candidates that were interviewed seemed like wild cards. I was kinda pulling for the Brown OC.

^ Chudzinski correct?

if that dude gets hired and vernon STILL can't get it done..
smh.gif

Chudzinski has coached gates and winslow..

Crab tree will be on the board before and after the 10th overall selection.. He's not goin top 10.. Def not top 5.. I'm praying for percy harvin ormatthew Stafford.. I'd like to get mike jenkins but I highly doubt he's on the board at 10

Damn, Alex Smith & Linehan

This will not end well.

^you're crazy if you don't think Crabtree goes in the top 10, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with the seahawks.

I still like Malulga (sp)

linehan has known alex smith since like grade school, in 2005 when linehan was with the dolphins he was hoping the 9ers would pass on alex @ 1 so the phins @ 2can draft smith
