We took Kittle in the fifth round, I’m confident that IF we need another TE we could find value in the later rounds. Aside from a QB, we need depth in our secondary as well as another RB. Hopefully Hurd can go this year to strengthen the receiver core.

Maybe all the way back to greg olsen but I'd argue that pick was a waste for the bears since he was mediocre there for 4 years then left for the Panthers and had a HOF career.

Dude is 6'6" 240 and runs a 4.4 40 and has Jerry Rice like hands and route running and never dropped a pass ntm the ULTIMATE RED ZONE threat, something which the 49ers have lacked the last 2 years.

Make no mistake Pitts is a generational talent who plays BOTH TE and WR

In other words, a can't miss prospect. Nobody says that about Fields or Lance.

Are we that desperate for a starting QB of the future when we have a roster that's built to win now? Ntm a starting QB who already took us to the SB when 100% healthy?

My theory: The Falcons have been rumored to be targeting Pitts for some time now and is why the 49ers quickly made the trade for #3 to ensure they get Pitts knowing that JAX and NYJ are for sure taking a QB.

All these rumors about the Niners wanting a QB are all nothing but smoke screens so that the Falcons have no clue the Niners are targeting Pitts. Otherwise ATL may offer a trade package to the Jets that they can't refuse for the #2 pick so they can nab Pitts before SF does.

The flip side is New York selects Fields instead of Wilson and best case scenario if this were to happen is SF gets to pick between Pitts or Zach.

you my guy Brosizzle but i've gotta respectfully disagree with this. as good as Pitts is and even if he's a certified generational talent, last year showed us that not only do the niners need a solid QB, they need a QB who is reliably healthy. we have two talented WRs and an all-pro TE already, just need a QB who can stay on the field to get them the ball. it sucks that jordan reed retired due to injuries, him and kittle would've been fun to watch

Jimmy might not be "injury-prone" but he's already missed one full season due to ACL and 75% of another one due to a high ankle sprain. draft a QB, let him redshirt under jimmy for one year, trade/release jimmy in 2022 and let the new QB take the reins.

All valid points Moe. And I can definitely see it that way as well no doubt.

In fact, I have also been one of the biggest proponents of getting someone to replace Jimmy in case he gets hurt yet again. But SF is clearly willing to give Porn King another chance. After all it's not like he tore his Achilles or tore another ACL. It was a high ankle sprain which fortunately he will fully recover from.

And something's telling me that the Niners have a short list when it comes to this year's QB draft class and they're not that desperate to take a QB at #3 if there is no QB left on their "short list." Which imo that list is Wilson and Lawrence and that's it.

The thing we keep dismissing is the solid probability Jimmy can come back and be fully healthy this year and lead the team to great things. Niners already said he would be the starter. What if Jimmy plays all 17 and leads team to SB? Do you then cut Jimny next year to make way for Fields or Lance or Jones right after Jimmy just led the squad to the SB? I highly doubt they cut him, and I'm sure Niners brass has to consider this option as well.
