So after rewatching it I've got
1st - Lux. Very poignant and clever round, he owned the stage and hit line after line. Hollows round was also good, but I felt he had some ho hum lines in between his set ups [See round 2].
2nd - I'll admit that I misspoke earlier. Hollows delivery line all but sealed that round to him. I believe Hollow would be better received if he cut out some of the filler in his round, although I guess that could also be said about anyone. Less is more especially in battle rap. Hollow brought up a good point with regards to how Lux was talking around him, and it was especially evident in this round.
1-1
The third round is what I consider to be the deciding round.
- Everything leading up to the Halloween line was just cooooooooolld. Nothing overly intricate either.
- Lux was hitting HAAARRD this round. The whole 'talk to this *****' should be confined to lux
- The Good farmer sees what needs to be cropped out
- What they paid you at smack ?
- How the gonna follow a junky? Be a fan, not a fiend (BX )
- Queens. Man UP. Cause STAND UP. ******. Don't lean
- Why should we expect a ***** named Hollow to give us anything solid?
- These Don Lemons be twisting up your agenda
CNN's Don Lemon: 'N*gger' Should Replace 'N-word' In News Reports - YouTube
- That Lean On me reference was sub zero cold. Hoooooly.
-
The exact face I made when I heard that Paul bearer line.
- I'm tryna get every one of these last hollows off the street, brother
That was a COLD mothefu*king round and came together as a concept round.
Hollow:
-He did start off pretty weak, I can see why the fans booed.
- The Shareef line was cool.
- That 10% reverend sh*t was hot.
- Hollow by thy name was also a dope continuation of Lux's reverend breakdown.
- The wordplay parts were really wack all battle. 1st 2nd and 3rd.
- Cool Lionz Den angle but really poor execution.
- The Ray Swag choke line was reaching.
- I know I’m alone on this but bringing out that BMF guy would have been a lot more hard hitting if he had just stood there and looked him dead in the eye instead of reinforcing Lux’s words. At least that’s how I took it. The negative setup was cold though.
- The click sh*t was kind of wack.
- Matter of fact, he closed the third pretty wack.
All in all, I feel Lux took Rounds 1 and 3 with 3 being the preference round, and I resonated more with Lux’s sh*t than Hollows. I’d even go as far as to say Hollows best round was the 2nd.
Lux 2-1
