Make no mistake, the GOP is entertaining the “end the war in Ukraine” stance because they’ve completely lost their “no more wars” sticking point with voters (For obvious reasons). Not only is it disingenuous, they’ve taken zero steps to actually end the conflict.

Aka we are running out of ammunition BUT the got through Blanches confirmation hearings. Which I still think was the impetus for this.

From a realpolitik standpoint, I can see why Ukraine is trying to break up Russia and Iran's ability to cooporate. They are still helping israel commit genocides and in some respect, Ukraine has been harmed more by Israel because it has bled the US white. The US prioritizes Israel expansion over Ukraine's ability to actually defend itself.
Your argument seems to rely on ignoring the fact Iran has been actively helping Russia invade and kill Ukrainians.

That is a good justification for attacking them

You are so mad at American "elites" over Isarel that you are basically arguing that Zelenskyy should support the killing of his own people to show support to Palestinians.

She's doing this the right way. She's running for Congress in WA-09, which has a top-2 primary setup. If she finishes in the top 2, it would be a general election where either she wins or a Democrat wins.

Kshama Sawant has been an amazing defender of worker rights and human rights and if you feel that mainstream Democrats are too corporate and too compromised, donate to her. Again, she's not splitting any votes. Either she wins or a fairly progressive Democrat wins.

Is this the woman that claims to be a socialist but actively blocks zoning reform to increase housing supply?

I know there are a couple of them in Seattle

Iran has been supplying drone tech and parts to Russia. Of course Zelenskyy and Ukraine are going to be against that. This has nothing to do with Israel and Palestine. Isolate individual things sometimes.

This video gives a thorough explanation of the AI economic bubble that more and more people say will pop soon.

One thing that it brings up that I wasn’t fully grasping was the fact that the whole profit margin for AI was (and still is) based on AI replacing 10 million white collar workers annually year after year.

It’s honestly diabolical…. The only thing I can think of as a historical equivalent to that level of an economic disruption is the Great Leap Forward….

I still think it’s absolutely amazing how republicans in the South (where republicans rule with an iron fist) get away with the, “if you want change, vote for us,” campaign every election cycle and they’ve been in power for decades.

It's the same reason that tho California's want change....they keep nominating Democrats.

If your opponents refuse to nominate candidates that are culturally aligned with the state, it's easy to keep winning.

I hope so, but on the other hand I've now been hearing about AI just about to crash nearly as much as I've been hearing about Iran just about to have a nuke.

It really isn't that simple

And ignores a ton of important nuance

Enough to the point I think the both sides argument is sorta lazy.

Not really the same when the modern day Republican Party has proven they cannot govern at all, are even more corrupt than imaginable, and a party that can truly be defined as a cult. Nationwide/locally, top down. Like, there truly aren’t any moderate republicans left. That is insane. A guy like Desantis might be a modern day “moderate” but he’s not really. Or a Susan Collins etc. They don’t represent their constituents, and just fall in line (I’m not saying the dems don’t do this or have this problem….i hate I have to caveat this).

And who ever else is there, doesn’t have a coalition and voting base at the moment, which leaves republicans.

Unfortunately, there is no alternative for now. Which sucks, but it is the reality. The broad coalition that is known as democrats today, have way more diversity within it….than what the republicans are offfering.

It really is maddening that those states in the south keep electing republicans and failing. But they’ve been cult like programmed and fear mongered to do so. Plus, I’m sure things aren’t

Democrats run culturally aligned candidates for statewide and red areas all the ******* time

And most of the time they don't win

Its not really a both sides argument, im not drawing any kind of moral equivalence.

The politics of race in the south makes things more complicated but im just saying Republicans used to win and in California and new york when they nominated pro choice, pro gay marriage republicans.

they stopped doing that and now they are drawing dead in every election.

do they? How many southern democrats primary winners were pro life for example? John Bel Edwards was pro life and he won.

im not saying its an insta win strategy im just saying it takes you from 0% chance of winning to maybe 10% chance. which is a huge boost while still being an unlikely outcome.

of course I agree with you as im a left wing person.
but in the south there are lots of right wing people who feel the same way about Democrats and Democrat run states.

so who do you think they will vote for if you nominate a normie democrat? even if they want change they are just gunna go with the republican?

same dynamic happens in blue states.

At the end of the day, Putin is a monster. While something had to give after the West's economic "Shock Therapy" imposed on Russia in the 1990's, an autocrat, who blames gay people for all of the country's problems, is not it.

I just wish that Putin and Netanyahu were treated the same. They are not. In many US States, you can protest, boycott, and demand sanctions on Russia and most Democrats will come out and support you. By constrast, you cannot do the same towards Netanyahu's Israel. That's not just the case in the US but also in Germany and the UK.

If I had to pick a "side," I'd side with those being invaded and displaced. But many elite and not so elite forces in the US expect us to act like Ukraine is the defenseless and morally supperior lamb but Israel's agression against Gaza, the Westbank, Lebanon, and Iranian girl's schools are "complicated."
I agree that there’s an obvious disparity in how the Ukrainian cause is treated vs the Palestinian cause but how does that relate to Zelensky striking an Iranian ship carrying alleged military cargo?

I think we can safely assume that the author of that tweet doesn’t take issue with Iran’s strikes in countries that provide military assistance to the US or Israel’s war against them. Those are legitimate targets for Iran on the same basis of Ukraine striking Iranian military targets.

For whatever reason, there’s a disturbing overlap between extreme left pro-Palestine support and pro-Russia sentiment. By extreme left I’m referring to the Hasan Piker type nutjobs.
Hasan Piker for example explicitly supports Russia’s annexation of Crimea and uses Russia’s justification for it. Journalist Ryan Grim, also closely affiliated with Hasan and a strong supporter of Palestina, deleted 99% of his Ukraine invasion tweets because he was openly justifying it.
Other extreme left political influencers in that orbit often lean towards Russia as well.

For idiots like Hasan Piker, it seems like the thought process never goes deeper than ‘America bad, therefore anything opposed to America good.’
Aside from that though, I don’t see how these people can square supporting the Palestinians against Israel’s genocide while also implicitly or explicitly suggesting Ukraine bows down to Russia. Or just outright supporting Russia’s invasion entirely.

Russia’s invasion isn’t genocide and certainly not as horrific as the many decades of Palestinian suffering and ongoing genocide but that really shouldn’t matter much when the end result is likewise lots of dead civilians. Both causes deserve support.

The ‘America bad’ mindset is just total cancer that rots people’s brains. To some of those people, they’ll suddenly cheer on military imperialism when it’s being done by a country that opposes the US.
If China ever decides to invade Taiwan, it won’t be a surprise to see those same people cheering it on because China opposes the west.

Russia doesn’t have genocidal intent or ambitions but at the end of the day
How do you figure? If we're saying Israel's war in Gaza has genocidal intent.

Seems to me Russia's war in Ukraine has about the same amount of evidence of genocidal intent.

I’d have to harshly disagree on that. I don’t really see anything to suggest Putin’s invasion is more than a land grab. Unlike Crimea though, he can’t simply seize the rest of Ukraine without a fullblown war.

Israel likewise wants to seize land to expand their territory but they also want to exterminate the population that inhabits it and replace it with their own. Taking the land is not enough for them. The massacre of civilians is not simply a byproduct of the land grab, it’s part of the goal.

At the end of the day though, I think what matters most is the casualties. Just because Putin doesn’t necessarily want to ethnically cleanse Ukraine doesn’t change the death toll.
