Russian arrested in Spain 'over US election hacking'

Spanish police have arrested a Russian programmer for alleged involvement in "hacking" the US election, Spanish press reports have said.

Pyotr Levashov, arrested on 7 April in Barcelona, has now been remanded in custody.

A "legal source" also told the AFP news agency that Mr Levashov was the subject of an extradition request by the US.

The request is due to be examined by Spain's national criminal court, the agency added.

El Confidencial, a Spanish news website, has said that Mr Levashov's arrest warrant was issued by US authorities over suspected "hacking" that helped Donald Trump's campaign.

Mr Levashov's wife Maria also told Russian broadcaster RT that the arrest was made in connection with such allegations.

Several cybersecurity experts, including Brian Krebs, have also linked Mr Levashov to a Russian spam kingpin, who uses the alias Peter Severa.

Intelligence report

A US intelligence report released in January alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin tried to help Mr Trump to victory.

Mr Trump later commented that the outcome of the election had not been affected.

The report said that Russia's objectives were to "undermine public faith" in the US democratic process and "denigrate" Mr Trump's Democrat rival Hillary Clinton.

Russia's efforts to this end allegedly included hacking into email accounts used by the Democratic National Committee; using intermediaries such as WikiLeaks to release hacked information; and funding social media users or "trolls" to make nasty comments.

However, there were no details of Mr Putin's alleged involvement with such interference in the report.

Mr Putin has strongly denied allegations that Russia tried to influence the US election.

Good thing media coverage has no bearing on classified federal investigations...

you know there's still no evidence on Russia right?

even Nunez's Democratic counterpart had to walk back da innuendo on meet da press a week or so back and "temper expectations"...

Why would they release anything while still investigating?

Nunes was acting shady enough to get taken off the investigation,I'm sure he'd risk his career over nothing :rolleyes

Trump's new economist is a fan of carbon taxes.

If Fufulini proposes a carbon tax, it is gonna be lulz in here.

I would love to see the deflection from Eddy if that happens

It's all too shady. I don't think Trump would ever get charged on such collusion, but his former associates will probably get the Oliver North treatment.

President Trump has gone back to the drawing board on tax reform as he looks for wide-ranging Republican support behind legislation to overhaul the tax system.

A White House official told Fox Business Network that all options are still on the table. However, a detailed tax plan is still weeks away.

A complete tax overhaul will likely miss the August deadline set by Treasury Secretary Mnuchin. The White House is trying to learn from the failure of enacting a new health care law to replace ObamaCare and take a more active role in getting legislation passed.

White House aides told The Associated Press Monday that the goal is to cut tax rates sharply enough to improve the economic picture in rural and industrial areas of the U.S. However, the administration so far has swatted down alternative ways for raising revenues, such as a carbon tax, to offset lower rates.

Here is a nice right wing source for you too.

During the campaign Trump told the nation this was his plan. Now he needs more time because he could not get health insurance reform none to roll back the taxes.

Because if the CBO score his campaign proposal, he would be laughed out the room again. And the deficit exploding nature of it would be on front street, and they would be 60 votes.

Your man catching Ls b.

Dude has the utmost confidence like he's in the meetings.
It's not healthy to be sooooo in deep with defending everything, even if it's trolling. Trump may not be the only person who has a mental defect causing consistent unusual behavior

WASHINGTON (AP) — A senior U.S. official says the United States has concluded that Russia knew in advance of Syria's chemical weapons attack last week.

The official says a Russian-operated drone flew over a hospital in Syria as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment.

Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

Until Monday, U.S. officials had said they weren't sure if the drone was operated by Russia or Syria. The senior official said it still wasn't clear who was flying the jet that bombed the hospital.

The official said the presence of the drone couldn't have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment.

The official wasn't authorized to speak publicly on intelligence matters and demanded anonymity.

So Trump's people thought Russia was complicit, tried to cover it up, yet we gave them the heads up out clear out. Way to take a stand for humanity Fufulini :rolleyes

Like I said, Trump bombs were political theater
