I don't.
I think that being a racist is more about the individual's intent and personal feeling of superiority based on race.
But I definitely understand the reasoning behind your broad definition. And by that definition Trump is a racist without doubt.
Do you feel that due to the system in which a person has lived/witness since BIRTH can cause them to subconsciously have a feeling of superiority over non-white folks?
Remember, it is a systematic thing.
Most definitely. That's why I said I understand you and KHUFU 's definition.
But I actually think that having such a broad definition lets a lot of truly vile racists (Klan members, neo-nazis, etc.) off the hook because you lump them in together with random white sneakerheads on here.
Not sure how (Klan members, neo-nazis, etc.) are being let off the hook.
What does "being let off the hook" even look like / mean?
My questioning came from you saying INTENT is what determines whether or not someone is racist.
Since we live in a racist society/system, a person doesn't have to have the INTENT of being a racist and still (through social conditioning/engineering) view Black folks as inferior.
Based on my definition I do not know whether he is or not. But it is certainly fair to come to the conclusion that he is based on the things he's said.
Broad ‘eh? Under the definition that you are using, Black people can be deemed racist as well. Under the definition I am using, the one originally used by Webster’s BEFORE they changed it, narrowed the definition to those who live with the privilege of being white. So who’s actually using a broad definition? This is where things get a bit murky with you, and why these dudes get so funky with your purpose.I don't.

It lets them off the hook because based on your definition every white person is a racist.
Since it is so broad it essentially becomes meaningless.
YOU have your own definition and qualifications.
So how do you NOT know if he is or isn't?
I am confused.
Because I'd need to know his intent and whether or not he feels like he is superior based on his race. I don't know those things.
I know he's ignorant and I know he uses racist rhetoric. Which is why I said I understand coming to the conclusion.
