pretty much sums up what I and a few others in here have been saying in this thread for awhile...
but I get called a “contrarian” and I “secretly root for trump”

Pretty sure 49 percent is the lowest “highest approval” rating of any president since they starting keeping track in the 1930s... correct me if I’m wrong

Bro....that’s not what we were even debating. It was weather to impeach Trump or not. Literally, ALL factions of the Democratic Party base from far left to “moderates” to never trump republicans and slight majority of independents were in favor of impeachment of the Ukraine scandal.
The Dems would’ve been looking like straight up pie, if all that info kept coming out and their response was...”No....because were scared of pissing off Trump’s base”
.What is the alternative? Go on TV networks that Trump base doesn’t listen to?
. Even Judge Nap and Chris Wallace and them were saying this was impeachment worthy on Fox News...and their base lashed out at them.Dems had to go for impeachment man. You wanna really see an apathetic base turn on its own party? Try the energized democrats who were responsible for the “Blue Wave” in 2018.....feeling like dems in Congress weren’t doing their job...and holding Trump accountable.
This was blatant and easy to understand. We all knew from the beginning removal was a long shot. The point was to expose the corruption of Trump and his crew, the cravenness of republicans...and let them be on record and have that albatross of acquitting a guilty man....if/when more information eventually leaks out.
Those republicans in the senate who hid behind business as usual are more vulnerable in their seats come 2020 than before. More of a light has been shed on them.
Can you see this point of view? Or nah? Simple question.

It probably would’ve worked if he did it. Trump is an easy mark, all you have to do is flatter him excessively and/or offer him personal political or business favors.

Citing a poll as evidence that Trump is doing well, without actually understanding what that poll means or where it stands in the greater context of history (or just the current discussion) is the most Trumpian thing ever.
