im just gonna keep tallying up the "we acknowledge the presidents wrong doing, but wont do anything about It" count. no amount of blaming the dems for whitch hunts and flawed cases will change the fact that the GOP has refused to act even after acknowledging the presidents repeated wrong doing. selfishly, im low key glad that this will push conservatives out in the wild to shut up about defending the president and the GOP. I work in manufacturing with a heavily blue collar low information conservative work force, even they have been talking less and less about how great the president is for the country

How’s the volume been at your company? I’m not in our manufacturing department anymore, but I hear our volume is low and we’re trying to outsource assembly to China lol.

business is actually booming for us here, but i work at a company that makes aerospace and military components so we essentially have a "new deal" scenario going on here. the government is spending and we're the main supply for components in a specific high performance cobalt alloy in the united states. we'll always have business as long as the military exists.

Imagine being a kid dreaming of growing up and being the most powerful man/woman in the world
That's how Trump makes these politicians feel
He has mastered how to act like a fake mafia boss and he's teaching all his folks how to be fake mafia street thugs

This is absurd logic from Rubio and I don’t even think he understand what he is saying.
He’s acknowledging that his actions meet the standard of impeachment which means he’s agrees he did obstruct congress and abuse power. BUT that doesn’t mean it’s “in the best interest of the country” to remove him?

when is it not in the best interest of a country to remove a president that obstructs congress one of the institutions meant to keep the balance of government and abuse the power the office gave a him? Should that not always be in our interest to remove leaders who obstruct and abuse power? does he not understand the potential ramifications of his argument? Or does he just not care

The other dimension of that position is the claim that the point of impeachment proceedings is to come to a decision based on “what’s best for the country” (however the hell any individual in any given set of circumstances might choose to interpret that) and not on whether the available evidence of a president’s actions does or does not warrant their removal from office.

I’m no Constitutional expert, so maybe the Constitution says something like “Regardless of whether grounds for removal from office exist, you can and should ignore them if you feel like doing so is in the best interest of the country, whatever you determine that to be based on whatever criteria you personally deem to be relevant.” Maybe that’s in there—but I have my doubts. And if it’s not, Rubio is literally publicly proclaiming that he’s acting in clear violation of his oath of office.

“Seal political fate” is the biggest bunch of ******** these commentators kick.

how often was that term used during Kavanaugh? War time resolutions? Hell, I’m sure it was used during Benghazi.

Dude’s been dying for the acquittal so that he can troll NT.

unfortunately, that’s how half the country is.

and unfortunately, the Dems gave the trolls a wide open dunk with this dumb *** impeachment...

because acquittal is inevitable, and the victory lap will be loud and full of bravado

So the Dems should have ignored Trump's clear criminal actions and corrupt behavior because doing their constitutional duty would inevitably lead to the feeding the trolls?

These Republicans have suddenly found nuance!

In the case of extending any rights to brown folks however, the strict constitutionalist Republican Party we know and love are always reduced to narrow interpretations and site pragmatic approaches again and again.

Because manufacturing has been contracting.

This is simply Rubio putting himself and his fellow Republicans (and the base) above the Constitution. This is a clear signal that we are entering another authoritarian era in this country's history.
