While Trump's legal team is arguing that Congress has no right to impeach for blanket defiance of all subpoenas and should instead go to court, the Trump administration is telling the courts that they have no right to intervene. DOJ cited impeachment as a remedy.

DOJ tells court that Congress can't sue to enforce subpoenas
The Trump administration told a federal judge on Thursday that Congress cannot sue the executive branch, attempting to fight off a House committee's subpoena for documents related to aborted efforts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

James Burnham, an attorney with the Justice Department, argued that Congress cannot use the courts to enforce its subpoenas. It can only use the legislative tools it has at its disposal, he said.

"If they are enforceable in the courts that would be a revolution in the history of the relationship between the branches," Burnham said. "These cases would multiply like rabbits."

D.C. District Judge Randolph D. Moss seemed skeptical of Burnham's argument.

"It seems to be kind of remarkable to suggest that Congress as an institution can't enforce its subpoenas," Moss said, adding that, without that right, congressional subpoenas would be little more than requests.

Burnham responded that Congress has plenty of legislative powers, from appropriations to impeachment, to provide leverage for its subpoenas.

Never lost on me is....Trump hiring all of Epstein’s lawyers (Starr, Dershowitz etc) having the prosecutor who gave Epstein the sweetheart deal as his labor secretary (Acosta) and his Attorney General (Barr) overseeing the NYC jail high profile Epstein killed him self in....while also being the son of the guy who gave Epstein his first job without a degree, teaching an elite boarding high school in NYC....isn’t lost on me.

If it’s anything you know about Trump...it’s he revels in having people by the balls.

This is what Democratic candidates need to hit back with.

Very few politicians come from poverty, even the ones who pretend to be toil the land from sunrise to sunset. Democrats should just conduct hearings with Zillow pictures of GOP members' latest real estate purchases and the accompanying zip code income and demographic info.

Trump's defense counsel has now conceded that Giuliani, who spearheaded the campaign to get Ukraine to investigate the Bidens, was not conducting government policy.

Red-handed implies something illegal.

I don’t believe that to be the case. Ostensibly the House didn’t either as they didn’t include bribery in the articles. Nor do I believe he did anything that rises to the level of impeachment.
The bribery didn't happen because Zelensky stalled the announcement of the investigation. If it weren't for the whistleblower, there would have been bribery.

Just because the crime never concretized doesn't mean that the attempt to commit it is legal.

Now, go get yourself a Roman calendar.

Adam Schiff for president? He’s a good age, clearly has a brain, and I like the cut of his jib.
I would like to see him ascend to Speaker of the House before tipping his hand at President. He's been fantastic as the de facto #2, so him pulling the strings in congress for the Democrats would be invaluable once Pelosi retires.
