By any serious analysis, Trump didn't fix ****. He improved the top line numbers of an economy which already had decent top line numbers.
Comparatively speaking, Obama's economic record in the same time period is way more impressive.
Helping save the economy from a depression and complete ruin > Blowing up the deficit to get an extra 1-1.5% or for a few years before the debt starts pulling down the economy.
But liberals should give Trump some credit. Trump proved that if you give the economy a 1.5 Trillion dollars stimulus, growth will improve. That is the same thing liberals have been saying for decades. The problem is who we spend the 1.5 trillion on. The GOP spends most of that money on people that don't need it, the extremely wealthy. If we instead spent 1.5 trillion on the poor, and lower middle class, the multipliers will be greater and you would be more benefits from it.
Think of the economy as a person in their late-30s with metabolic syndrome. We know the prescription to avoid heart disease and diabetes is to change their diet, get better sleep, and exercise. However, those things are hard and not fashionable. Just like expanding the EIC, having universal health coverage and a job program are not fashionable economic policies.
So instead we got supply side. Supply-side cuts are like buying tons of supplements instead.; thinking you can pill pop your way to good health. But instead of pharmaceutical grade fish oil, Trump is feeding the economy pipe pills from Alex Jones. While the arteries of the American economy slowing clog, we got Bigot #1 bragging about how vascular the US's dong is.
Then sometime around 2020-2021.....
