All of these Washington reporters are gonna miss John McCain because he was most (and only) media-friendly Republican.

McCain was always on those Sunday morning shows.
McCain was always the one Republican that would appear on late night talk shows. He even hosted Saturday Night Live once.
McCain was the only elected Republican that pulled off (for a long time) the trick of being the Republican that even Democrats could look at not get **** on. His 2008 Presidential campaign kinda exposed him for what he was.

Tell me how many elected Republicans can pull that off now?

That's why he's getting all of this praise, even if he didn't really deserve it.

GOP Sen. James Inhofe (Okla.) on Monday said the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is "partially to blame" for the controversy over President Trump's raising and then re-lowering American flags to mark McCain's death.

The White House on Monday afternoon re-lowered its flags to half staff after facing widespread pushback for returning them to full staff less than 48 hours after McCain's death on Saturday.

In response to a question about the flag controversy, Inhofe, who is expected to succeed McCain as the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the former GOP presidential nominee was not "courteous" to Trump.

"Well, you know, frankly, I think that John McCain is partially to blame for that because he is very outspoken," Inhofe told reporters, according to CNN. "He disagreed with the president in certain areas and wasn't too courteous about it."

Here's the thing. For the regulars in this thread and those who follow politics, this is obvious ********. But for the average white suburban housewife who thinks of Trump as a misunderstood reality TV star who is vilified for being nontraditional, this fits into the narrative of others being nasty to Trump.

In his position, I would have flipped my seat blue. That would have been the ultimate middle finger to Trump because the AZ governor has to nominate, by AZ law, a senator of the same party as the one being replaced.

Instead, we got pretty words...

As they say, being insane is doing the same thing multiple times and expecting different results.

I'm guessing this was passed in 2007 or 2008 when McCain might have won the Presidency, vacating the Senate seat and leaving Janet Napolitano to select his replacement and that person would have been a Democrat.

It seems similar to how Massachusetts changed its law related to vacant Senate seats when Joh nKerry might have won in 2004 thus leaving Mitt Romney to select a republican replacement.

What he means is that his social equals and inferiors better not criticism him. His social superior like the President of the United States and most popular Republican, among Republican voters, has free reign to mock him.

Interestingly enough, he basically has one because the President sidestepped the proper procedure for him to receive one.

He has access to the information he does almost solely because Trump decided to give it to him. Pretty scary.
