***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I’ll take it a step further, I don’t think that we should have career politicians. How can you expect someone that’s held an official position for decades to really be in touch? Especially when they stay in DC? Only time they return to their state is election time.

Also don’t think politicians should be paid as much as they are now. They have great insurance, per diems, etc. I assume in their day to day they don’t reach for their wallets at all. They could be paid minimum wage with all the other benefits they already receive. I’d bet money that if ALL politicians made less that would eradicate any deficiencies in the national budget.

But I’m just a tax paying citizen and my vote/voice counts for nada...

Is it even feasible to remove lobbying from politics?

Does lobbying benefit you at all? Do you feel like if you call your district’s representative with a concern, you can feel assured that it would be addressed? It may not be feasible, but what’s currently going on is working either

Lol I wasn’t coming at you or anything.. I just get passionate about this subject because it’s so frustrating.

Sorry if it sounds like I’m angry at you

Probably not. Doesn’t mean it’s not worth fighting for. Imo our generation and the one after us need to work together and not be like the complacent generation that came before us, who accepted that this is as good as life gets, and things are fair and good enough for them.

I love seeing these so called champions of free market economics getting pissed off when companies and consumers chose not to do business in a way they like.

It is nice to preach about "choice" and "freedom" when you want to turn people against things like single payer. But when you disagree with choices being made, you wanna turn authoritarian and punish those that piss you off.

Unprincipled crooks, the entire bunch

Man is attempting to use his position in the government to unilaterally influence the decisions of a private corporation. That's not how a democracy works.

I used to think that way, but the moron in office is a prime example of why we need people who know the system inside out to govern. The average person doesn't dedicate much of their to politics, and I don't want an entire legislative body made up of people like that. They are the most likely to abuse their position for selfish reasons.
