imma be heated if trump ban dem bump stocks, trynna throw one on da double barrel musket

not sure if u srs slimesito

deadly serious. in the grand scheme, of things, given the huge amount of money spent in elections the amount of money rubio gets from the NRA is not significant.

What is significant is you have a country where like 35% of the people. are single issue voters who view gun ownrship as an integral part of their cultural identity, those people are active, motivated, and mostly vote republican, if you go against them as a republican, even if you are a moderate you will get primared and you will lose.

It aint about the money it's the voters.

If that teacher still supporting them she is f'n stupid

She didn't ask how the teachers would afford all that stuff

also Rubio is right, banning ar-15 entails banning a very very large category of weapons, if that's what you wanna do the left gotta be upfront about it...

it is a catch-22 and the right/NRA is very good at framing it that way while not offering any reasonable and impactful solutions of their own.

I think Lil Marco is a choke artist, and a chump, but he's right. RUBIO IS RIGHT. People totally overrate the impact of NRA money, its about the voters. 35% of the country really sincerely believes this 2nd amendment ****.

The NRA could disappear tomorrow, Republicans would still look at any gun control measure as politically radio active.

But people don't exclusivity talk about NRA donations to polticans

The NRA's lobbying shapes policy. And policy shapes culture.

The NRA systematically feeds talking points to Republicans and pundits at all levels. The NRA's rhetoric always nearly always mirrors the defenses "cultural identity" of the years.

Not only that those single issue gun voters are usually encouraged by local NRA chapters. They post and spread meeting times, every time politicians discuss gun regulation at every level. Their members are very organized about this.

So in some sense like you have a narrow view of the criticisms lobbied at the NRA.

Where you are right is that on the right there is not voting block that will defend a Republican that votes on gun regulation, he will lose his primary because the NRA and its members will whip up enough support to punish them. And liberals are so damn apathetic that they don't show up to the polls to defend Democrats enough. So as we stand now, there we will never get to the place their we have a left wing super majority will to pass reforms.

At least Rubio had the balls to show up
He's not doing too bad tbh in the face of getting publicly roasted.

His point was incredibly flimsy

If they pass a law and some sort of loophole is found, well amend it.. issues will come before the courts

This isn't anything new.. he's just trying to use the complexities of the issues to avoid doing anything.. well guess what, gun regulations ain't the only complex issue out there and many laws have been passed

nah he's not hiding he's saying that banning ar-15's is too wide of a category to ban that would inappropriately infringe on legal gun owners second amendment rights.

imo it's a fair position to take if you're about that 2nd amendment life...if anything democrats are hiding, trying to pretend like the bans they propose won't effect legal gun owners.

i feel like the critism lobbed at the NRA is most often narrowly focused on the money.

Sure if people had nuanced position you just stated I could get with it, but let's be real, most people I see are screaming about politician x being bought by the NRA.
