For the same reason the US supports some dictatorships: enlarge one's sphere of influence, encourage the regional stability (avoid political/humanitarian/economic crises) that is necessary for commerce, and serve as a launching pad for operations against perceived and real enemies.

Propping up NK helps China and Russia by spreading the State department thin and keeping us from encroaching in their own areas of interest.
