I still can't belive this...Russia hacked the DNC and leaked the emails in order to elect Donald Trump.

Trump gets elected,

- brings back Paul Manafort dude paid for by russian oligarchs,
- appoints Michael Flynn who worked for russian propaganda network RT
- hires Rex Tillersson, freind of Russia, and the closest american to Valdamir Putin


and republicans either stay silent or sudenley become fans or russia in the name of partisanship and taking health care away from poor, old, and sick people.

If we're talking about what's politically expedient, endorsing Moscow is a dangerous game. Sure, it plays well with the anti-establishment alt-right crowd (and some Bernie bros) but keep in mind a few things:

- The Cold War is still fresh in the minds of many. Thanks to the semi-propaganda over decades in the United States (thanks, Rocky), even today's millennials equate Communism and Russia with anti-Americanism, especially among the entrenched right.

- Over time, the deep involvement of Russia in atrocities in Syria and elsewhere will be exposed more and more. While we're all rooting against Isis, the western world will become more aware of Assad's evil and Russia's long-standing role in enabling and encouraging such behavior. Oddly enough, it was Hillary (and the right) who took Obama to task in 2008 for not coming out more strongly against Syria. Now none of the details matter, but emotion does, and the more people see the atrocities of Russia-sponsored Syria at play (and, believe me, these will come to the forefront on the global stage the friendlier Trump becomes with Russia because the global free press doesn't give two ***** about Trump's feelings. If anything, his thin skin will make it more profitable and popular for the global free media to work on exposing Russia's atrocities), the more politically difficult it will be for Trump to maneuver here.

- In politics, you can survive scandal (look at Bill Clinton) and you can survive stupidity (see 2004), but you can't survive corruption. Let's be honest -- even if you think Trump is a good guy, we all know there is something he is doing or has done with Russia that can be trumped up and used against him. This is politics, after all, and there are enough elements in the Democratic party and even Republican party who will want to make a name for themselves going after Trump.

So. yes, let's cut the politically correct ******** and analyze this objectively. Whether Trump is truly corrupt and whether there is a conspiracy at hand doesn't matter. What does matter is that he is deeply unpopular, especially among those with money and power (votes only matter every 4 years. for the other 364 days. the average American is powerless so no one gives a **** about some anti-establishment movement among disgruntled ex-coal miners, but they do care what people with money are doing. hint: the coastal elites you like to disenfranchise with the electoral college), and something will be used to bring him down.

The caveat to this is that Trump has been smart to get financial elites on his side (at least some of them) by including lots of Goldman Sachs on his team. But he has only antagonized and energized the media and he has little to no sway (or less than he would hope) over silicon valley, entertainment and arts, science, etc.

As far as Russia is concerned, it matters. See, another aspect of a banana republic is that its internal politics are heavily influenced by outside forces, and the people and its representatives have little say in what's going on in the country. That's the path the US is on, and it scares the patriotic minds on both sides of the aisle because they know how destabilizing having national policies set up to favor a foreign actor can be (considering the US has used similar tactics to assert its influence abroad).

how does Russian "interference" bloviating matter compared to jobs/economy and Healthcare? you're injecting what startles you (editorializing) and dismissing what actually is moving da needle in da general electorate.

you're also not factoring in establishment resistance to Trump, which is bipartisan.

and lastly, John Podesta's emails were what they were... Clinton's private server were a unforced error she created..

all this witch hunting for James Comey & da Russians doesn't address why da Democrats lost da election bor does it position them on stronger footing for da 2018 midterms or 2020 election.

da way i see it? Republicans got stronger weapons to kill themselves (mishandling da repeal and replace of Obamacare, and da undocumented illegal immigrants/immigration bill) than anything Democrats can throw at em.

the big news was that Trump questioned Lewis's legacy, claimed he was all talk, and claimed that his congressional district was in ruins. Trump's tweets were posted.

three other points: if you feel that there is more to the story, by all means be a responsible contributor to this thread and post three rest of the story.

two: i spent five minutes on Twitter moments and reading mainstream news media coverage of Lewis, and 2 or 3 times i encountered and also watched the clip of his interview where he called Trump illegitimate because of the Russia involvement. so it's not like this was some secret fact. any responsible consumer of political news would've come across that clip. again, it's not the job of this thread to give complete details on every story. if you feel something is missing, contribute!

lastly, i did post about Lewis's remarks on Russia (i didn't provide quotes or links but i did bring it up). i doubt you didn't see it because you replied right away but only talked about my use of the word "hooligan".
