***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Also, I think many people drastically underestimate the influence of social media political content creators. The likes of Adin Ross, or alternatively Hasan Piker on the left.
Parasocial behavior (comparable to the cultish devotion to Trump) is a rampant issue amongst streamers, and the influence they have on their communities should not be taken lightly.

This is what I'm almost taking away most from this cycle. The social media aspect and quick clickbait nature of politics is here to stay and looks to be the most effective way to communicate.

Despite how disgusting a lot of those ppl are, they do have influence and when you have a man with unlimited wealth literally purchasing a platform with the intent to spread as much disinformation as possible; we in a whole new ballgame.

Cult of personality and the aforementioned are what's resonating; don't think they necessarily care what policy is or isn't good enough or even the truth. It's who's the loudest and even know they may be spewing total crocks of ****, they do it with conviction.

This is the 2016 elector map, same as today except Nevada was blue. Biden flipping Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan in 2020 really was a miracle

I don't disagree but I think it's a lost cause (for the left at least).

Grifters, charlatans, and scammers are just flat out better at utilizing this kind of stuff and new tech and they always establish first. Those that come later are always seen as fake, too corporate, or just kind of lame.

Also their content is just better for views and engagement. Grievances and anger will always win out. Hell even I fall into this trap. My favorite podcaster has a couple shows and it's just much more interesting to hear him talk about how much of a scumbag Elon is rather than listening how important mutual aid and community engagement is no matter how important it is.

Came across this video of an Asian guy going to both a Democratic and Republican rally..

8 minute video that made proud to be an American.

Both rallies had a ton of polite, nice people that treated him like a regular dude.

He didn’t know who Glorilla was. Dems focused a lot of healthcare, but didn’t walk through the solutions for other problems; felt the Dem solutions were understood by the people

Thought Trump really was easier to digest and people really believe in Trump as a person because they felt downtrodden and left behind in America.

Despite the rhetoric online, people tend to be chill in person.. the media and social media tend to focus on extremist on both sides.

I know you shills on both sides hate when people find positivity on the other side of the political spectrum. But this is a video is a more accurate representation of real life.. I have folks on both sides of the aisle and most people are cool, laid back even if y'all aren't aligned politically. We have to to stop treating politics like gangs. At the end of the day we're all American citizens. Even on here, you had folks coming at me and others for daring to not be doom and gloomers about Trump getting elected. Yall are being radicalized and don't even realize it. The internet/media isn't an accurate representation of real life.

People are being nice at those rallies because they are excited to see Trump. He should hang out with these same people when they aren't watching their favorite human being/cult leader on stage.

I agree with most of this. Don't think it's a lost cause but a uphill battle for sure

Unfortunately this is just something they can't abandon. The stakes aren't fair but you still gotta play the game

I also want to point out that the arguably most viewed leftist political streamer, Hasan Piker, is likewise a horrible influence on young voters. Rampant misinformation, promoting terrorist propaganda (literally) live on Twitch to an echochamber audience of mostly the younger generation, ...
Hasan's community for example is a breeding ground for those single issue Gaza people who voted third party or abstained.

It also doesn't help that the top leftist influencers are hardly role models. (See above regarding Hasan Piker)

Yeah but as soon as the veneer of public decorum is stripped away, all of that civility disappears. If I look at my taxi drivers' social media posts, there's no civility to be found there. I don't post anything on my personal social media but as I said earlier, my actual opinion of him is about as low as it gets.

The only reason him and I get along is because we don't discuss politics and we're both able to at least uphold basic decency in public.
So how 'real' is this civility when it is only upheld by withholding our political opinions in real life interactions?
Yep, I bet if this guy read these people's Twitter/X comments, he would not be feeling the same way about them lol

The cycle has been the same over and over again. Liberals try to effect positive change. Because of the Senate and other factors it gets blocked

Supreme Court sends back the things that are accomplished. Then voters say "you didn't do anything for us" and stay and home

The stupidity of our alpha version constitution got us to this point. It will continue to lead back to this dead end

I've sort of come to the conclusion that a woman running is going to deduct a certain percentage regardless. The latino men going towards Trump is sort of crazy.

I wonder what would have Biden done if they continued to roll him out there like Weekend at Bernie's for the final four months.

“Historic climate bill” as America pumps more oil and gas then ever before. Now there is a benefit to chasing energy independence which maybe worthwhile, but you can’t do that and pretend your doing anything for the climate as you turn your back on fracking and pumping more oil than ever before. That’s playing the middle as you do, which once again, appeals to no one. It’s another 80 degree day here in November as our state enters real drought conditions, tell me what that historic climate bill is doing?

They bent over backwards to do what? You’re just saying that without evidence. Her plan for black men was we’ll help your crypto. That’s more offensive than something Trump would come up with.

If the Dems are going to play the middle which they probably will because that’s who controls the party machine ($), they should pick someone outside-of-the-box next time. The party desperately needs its own Trump, someone from outside the political apparatus to stretch people’s imagination.

They have a messaging problem and don't seem to know how to fix it.

voters don't care about climate that much.
young voters don't care about climate that much.

you are just being misled by leftist talking points.

there is no evidence for this.

the climate bill was good, but people don't actually care that much.
people want cheap gas, sorry.

also on the merits, not drilling for doesn't help the climate. people substitute with coal. which is worse.
