An essential experience of being left wing and into urbanism is that little bit of rage that comes from aerial shots above most North American cities.

I’m trying to just chill and watch a ball game but the Lakers are playing at Phoenix… grrrr

im begging progressives, stop racializing not explicitly racial issues.

YIMBYism is successful because it can appeal to conservatives and progressives. Progress will grind to a hault if YIMBYism becomes about healing "entrenched racial segregation"

just a little bit?

nothing grinds my gears more than 99% of American cities and towns that are nothing more than giant roads and parking lots for cars with some houses along the way for their operators to sleep.

Does that mean men will be used like the Amazonian women episode of futurama where we are just used for snu snu?

Well I’m definitely voting for Harris then. Surprised all the incels aren’t :lol

As a matter of US History, racism may not be the only factor in urban sprawl but it’s hard not to see it as the biggest factor.

but as a matter of communication strategy, it does make sense to educate and build consensus with softer NIMBYs whose concerns are non racial, rather than publicly excoriating the NIMBY zealots who actually DGAF about “neighborhood character,” “shadows,” or “traffic.”

I’m annoyed at being reminded of NIMBY because I should just enjoy get to enjoy the aerial shots.

A tight shot of Staples Center (it’s only wrong the dead name people) is cool but then they zoom out and I see way too many lanes. lol

And God forbid they do an aerial shot of the Hollywood sign and I can see the San Fernando Valley, so much wasted potential. :smh:

I’ve never seen a starker difference the day before an election. One candidate is defending blowing a microphone with an invisible corn dog while saying crazy **** to half empty crowds that don’t even watch him… vs this one, going door to door like a normal human being trying to win.

The devious part of me wants him to get elected and for him to actually do this so that it can explode in his face to maximum potential, but I know that even if that were to happen, he would skirt the blame and his fanatics would never accept that it was his doing.

Or (more likely) these companies would simply bail on Mexican production and take their production elsewhere to avoid it altogether, because Trump and his crew would probably specify Mexico in the legislation. So, it would probably just leave a huge jobless population in Mexico that would probably increase undocumented immigration to the US.

Well Nike is going to raise prices regardless

It will be a further opportunity for MANY companies to play along and raise prices, just like prices for everything went up during the pandemic and almost nothing came back down.

My first thought when this talk came up was Fender and Taylor guitars. Both huge American companies that do a lot of their production in the US, but also produce a huge portion of their product in Mexico. Something like this would price a third of their product out of existence and probably close down factories that have been in use for decades.

It is just non-sensical, race-bating craziness at best, and a likely dog whistle to corporate donors that they've got another opportunity to price gouge.
