Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

Names are extremely tricky these days..You don't want something that's overly trendy, but yet you don't want something that's boring..The trick is to pick something that will fit for life..

Here's how we decided on our son's name..

1. Does it sound like a cute baby name and can he have fun nicknames?

2. Is it a name that sounds cool, but yet can sound classic?

3. Will his name sound like a good teenager/early adult name?

4. Will his name sound stupid when he's 46 yrs old and introducing himself to people from all walks of life?..

5. Will it sound like a good name when he's old and has grandkids?..For example we didn't think it'd sound right for a 75 yr old man to have his grandkids call him Grandpa Blair..

So we ended up deciding on Cooper..Which we felt fit all our criteria..Some may disagree or may not like his name, but we felt it fit perfect..Plus we wanted his name to start with C because my name does and I wanted him to have the same initials as me..

I had a co worker who named her kid cooper, but her accent made it sound like KOOPA haha me and the rest of the night shift were like KOOPA? Like King Koopa from Super Mario Bros. You guys ever ask your parents how they came up with your name? or siblings names?

Forgot all about the name thing. LOL
My girl and I just cant agree on a name. It was so easy with my First son, nothing was gonna change my mind.
All she had to do was pick a middle name which now we kinda regret because we could have named our second son that.
But I'm just like Case Case and I start to question all these names she picks. :lol
Either way baby is due by December so we still have time. Feels weird calling him "baby" so hopefully we can agree on his name soon.

I thought about naming my son after me, but then i started thinking of all the people that mess it up and pronounce it wrong. Didn't want him to go through that and ended up picking Diego (which is after Diego Maradona, favorite soccer player). I knew i wanted a full hispanic name, so we ended up choosing Cruz as his middle name. People have been calling  him DC haha.

Not sure how long my son's nickname will last... i wonder how long his teachers will still call him bear.. even his school work says bear

:lol yup bear.. new teachers and subs get confused because his classmates and school work don't match the attendance sheet.. matter fact i took him out of school a couple days ago. Went to the office, gave them his real name. They were baffled they didn't know his real name.. they were like who? Just give us his last name.. :lol

Ha! I call my boy "Cub"

Bear is tuff though :hat

Keep that going as long as you possibly can :lol

For guys with their kids doing sports, how much are Yall paying? Got a year before it all begins

Bear is a tough nickname. My friend at work calls his son Cannon :lol :hat

Yea we both like Caleb and the meaning behind the name. My name is Josh, so it works perfectly from a biblical point of view.

Wife had already said that if the next one is a boy, he will be named Ethan, so I guess she has spoken :lol

Fellow NT father checking in.

I have 2 baby girls, 2 years old, and 9 months. Its exhausting being a parent of 2. But my wife is amazing and a hard worker.

I'd like to encourage all the fathers here to be all they can be for their kids and spouse if married.

Speaking of nicknames, this kid on my son's footy team (soccer) is named Jack, but they call him hawk short for mohawk because he has one during the summer. He can't have the do during the school year because the Catholic school he goes to prohibits wild hair styles.

He's a Korean kid but when he has the do during the summer & I see him run I always have the music from The Last of the Mohicans playing in my head... :lol

I do sports or activities for the kids in the summer. Had bear in taekwondo (couldn't find a kung fu class) i wanted to see how he was gonna do in school first before we let him do sports/activities... my daughter does good with asb, band, dance class and her grades are still good..

:rollin Thats racist man!

Im looking forward to putting my 3 year old in soccer next summer, She'll be 3 in April 2015.
I have a vision for my girls.
I want them to be like Charlies Angels (the tv show, not the more recent movies). Classy, inteligent, elegant, athletic and yet still able to throw a knife, load&shoot a gun and cook a meal.
