Emmit Smith IS THE ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER. Why can't people accept Mikes offense was run heavy and explains the gap. Dallas was a RUN FIRST OFFENSE. It was traditional. The WC offense was similar to when RG3 came in and took the league by surprise.

Hines Ward was in a run first offense. So he is pretty much the second best WR ever behind Irvin. He was also great at third down catches and a better blocker

MR J that pic is no joke 10 years old at least, gotta bring something fresh

I don't think there is one metric that shows Irvin better than Rice. Legit, might not be one

Just like CP said earlier team accomplishments are dependent on various factors. QBs don't play defense.

Based off purely on field STATS those QBs are better then Montana.

How does a person factor in stats and titles? Is SB wins the number 1 criteria? Numbers? How many pass yards and TDs does 1 SB account for?
Now you are just being ridiculous.

Now we're back to QBs again.

Explain to me how you decide whose better then who. I seriously don't get it and I'm asking respectfully how you go about it. My formula may be wrong and I'll like to try yours.

One minute it's stats, then its accomplishments and accolades.

I think Torry Holt might have been better than Bruce despite Bruce playing a little bit longer. Pretty close at least. The string of seasons those two put up together :x

If you bring up both their career stats in separate windows and look at them at the same time on pro football reference, it's a lot of fun to look at.

Torry Holt's 2000-2005 run was fun as hell to watch.

Who cares how old they were if they were still productive? Those dudes were still being named All Pros and to Pro Bowls.

Also I notice how you are moving the goalposts away from HOFer because you were wrong towards good players now?

Like Randy never played with good players with the Vikings...Carter, Randle, McDaniel, Birk, Robert Smith, Cunnigham, Christie, Steuisee etc etc.

I like how you praising the virtues of a guylike Sapolu, as HOF like, then say a guy like Richmond Webb, a guy who has over triple the amount of Pro Bowl selections and more All Pro selections as not even a borderline HOFer.

If we are going to sing the praises of Sapolu as HOF worthy, might as well Keith Sims.

What formula do you have that puts 88 in front of Moss, TO, CC, Dude from the Colts, etc?

He is a playmaker and is good at third downs?

Where does Barry Sanders rank for people? He's one of the worst playoff RBs of all time. No SB appearances and had negative yards in a playoff game.

Quarterbacks are a completely different animal than any other position in sports. It's rare that you'll find two people that share a top-5, let alone who they view as the "GOAT."

Some people view Marino as the GOAT because he's the prototype. A man before his time. Was doing things with average players back before the rules change.

Others view Montana as the GOAT. Joe Cool. Flawless in Super Bowls. Multiple rings, MVPs, and SB MVPs.

Brady could be the GOAT. 6 SBs with 4 wins. Still going. Stats are super solid, great %'s, won with many different offenses.

Peyton is up there. All the stats. More MVPs than anyone in history. Got himself a ring, too.

Elway, Favre, Bradshaw, Young, Johnny U could all be a persons favorite QB.

Eye test. I've never once used stats or SBs in that discussion.

So if it is strictly eye test for you, which is 100% subjective, why the heck are you arguing with people on here? No one can change you mind, you admitted to not using any objective metric or stat, what is the point of all of this? To see if someone agreed with you? No one did

Almost all time greats have played with great talent or been coached by a good to great coach.

Some may have played a little more but it's all comparable, that's why I don't like the talent excuse.

The only one I'm struggling with is Barry Sanders.

Why would Eye Test be a surprise? What other metric, stat or accomplishments did I use in the debate? I clearly stated he led those Dallas teams as the vocal and emotional leader. That is a intangible.

You guys clearly didn't read what I wrote if that is news to you. Clearly.

You consigned Montana being better because of his accomplishments. Then turn around and disregard playoff history for another player?

How does that work?
I didnt. Wrong person. But even if I said that, it doesnt negate my statement. Barry Sanders is the best pure runner Ive seen.

James Harrison is the greatest OLB ever according to my eyes. He was a leader, he had monster seasons but just doesn't have the longevity
