Agreed.

It was just lacking game modes like season or dynasty.

Live 10 was a decent basketball game, but it was definitely stage one of a potentially great basketball game, then ea messed up
but elite is just horrible, even without the new controls, it was pretty bad

Exactly. If EA would have just integrated the real body control over players instead of animation to live 10, added more to the game graphically, updated it with the ESPN presentation, new interface presentation, you know, polished the game up some; and we would have had a solid product going into Live 11...
But no, EA wanted to REMAKE something that was taking a step on its good foot. They dropped the ball halfway down the line and now 2K sports is taking it completely from here.

I had so much hope for Live 11, and once they changed the name I knew $%## was going to go bad.

They need to remake the player models to compete with 2K's superior models, bring back the NBA Live 10 controls, get rid of those animated dunks and unrealistic take offs, *** in realistic crowd models, and continue to have the Dynamic DNA + Broaden the "Player career" mode, also increase the options in the create a player mode. Tired of generic faces/hairstyles.

The 2 things Live always did right were - Dynamic DNA and Its sneaker collection.

It would be nice to have Create a Team mode again.

But EA failed... Who knows how/why either. With as much attention to detail they bring to Madden, Fifa, and NHL, you would think that the NBA franchise would be great...

Hell, EA Skate's controls are 100x better than Elite

People who have been following its development since day one know why. Peter Moore assigned the lead developer from the NHL series to oversee the Live/Elite franchise. He's the reason why Elite is the first game of a three year process.

Time to get Live 10 for $20

.

I don't know why anyone would expect a great basketball game developed by EA.
Live 10 was good. Too many of you let your 2k stanism get in the way. If EA built on Live 10, this would have been a great year for basketball games.

QFT!

this is probably the best news I've heard from EA, why ???? Because instead of releasing a trash game they actually care enough to scrap it and work on it.....Live 10 was a good game all they had to do was build on it.
I have to disagree. For months they paraded Elite as a game that would change the industry and insulted our intelligence and it took an unprecedented amount of backlash from the Internet for them to delay the project.

Yep.

When some dudes from OS got a chance to play the game a few weeks back and their impressions were less than positive (i.e. Boozer Dunkgate) the developers kept stressing that everyone wait for the demo, get a feel for the new controls, they feel very intiutive ....etc.  Well people got their hands on the demo and the rest is history.

If the response to the demo wasn't so overwhelming negative I guarantee Elite would be on store shelves next week.

I'm glad NBA Jam is coming out this year though. EA better not charge full price for the 360 and PS3 version since it isn't the full game like the Wii version.

they will prolly throw in all the modes the wii version has to the ps3 and 360 versions to validate a retail price of 59 to 49 bucks.... they aint stupid... they gonna find a way to make that money they gonna lose for not releasing elite....

Im shocked. EA now has a full year to make Elite the best basketball game in history. Anything less and they have failed

more than likely from what I see on OS....elite 11 could get scrapped and EA focus on 12, hell the title could go back to live, if they really are using the OS community input, like one of the devs said earlier today

I just downloaded the demo, it's pretty bad. But damn I feel bad for the people involved in making this game, I'm sure it wasn't their intention to put out a #%$$ game like this........

the thing is.. remember when they totally remade nba live 06? it was HORRIBLE. from there it went down hill. i remember playing nba live 2005, and i liked it.

you would think they would have learnt from before, but i guess not.

Scrapped a little over a week before release?

On the other hand, I will give Live 10 with updated rosters some time in the disc tray. Still not as much as 2K11 though.

Live 2004 wasn't that bad. I would rank it behind Live 10 and ahead of Live 95.

I was actually starting to get use to the Elite controls too. I hope they get the new rosters, new unis, rookies, and sneakers for Live10 by opening day.

Live 06 was the beginning of the end. Live 06-07 and 09 were terrible... I don't know how EA is going to clean this mess up

I agree that NBA Live 10 was definitely something to build on for the future. I really don't understand the logic behind scrapping all of that and going in the direction they did. I realize that they were losing market share within a market that was shrinking, but they had a solid foundation in place. They really do need to just take the L this year and focus hard on NBA Elite/Live 12 and implement as much community feedback as they can because what they tried to do this year as far making the game "fun" in their words just didn't cut it. I'm actually happy that the community lashed out as strongly as they did with the demo too, but it was also funny seeing people try as hard as they could to defend the game like they were satisfied with what they were getting. I just feel that their competition is really making strides though in perfecting their craft as much as they can and are clearly ahead of the curve at this point.

I don't really care...but GameStop is showing a 3/31/2011 pre-order ship date for Elite

...im getting 2k11 first few days its out though anyway

Yup Its damn near confirmed that 3/31/11 is the new release date

^ Amazon is showing that same date as well.

For EA sakes the game better show dramatic improvements or it could be the nail in the coffin for the Live/Elite franchise.

I wonder if they'll release another demo?

I cannot believe they pushed back the release of this game. If they do not make it right this time, Madden will be the only franchise EA has left.
