The reason you do it is
1. He has a much better Offensive IQ at this stage of their careers, Ron makes some of the dumbest offensive mistakes and on multiple occasions throughout the past 2 seasons has made huge mistakes that kill all momentum
2. He does not miss wide open shots that Ron misses in bunches.. And Ron's only job on offensive is to hit the 3 when Kobe drives and draws the double..
3. You are not risking defense, Battier is recognized as one of the best defenders in the league.
4. Battier is one of the most effective Kobe defenders, Kobe has ever encountered.. Battier on the Lakers  eliminates that issue in the playoffs should it arise..
5. We could save money on our salary cap we could probably bring in Battier for less than Artest would cost us this year.. (This could potential allow us to trade for a draft pick or a sign and trade with another team to bring in a more legitimate PG)

my main priority would be to get rid of brown, blake, and barnes. then my top free agent list would be barbosa, battier, and jr smith or aaron brooks.

Needs to be a higher salary guy to try and make significant roster changes... Ex:  Walton, Ron

Getting rid of Walton, Ron & Blake  is $16-17mil...

Barnes is only $1.9 mil it is a small salary for what he can be when healthy..  About $700K more than League minimum.. That's not a bad deal

There's not enough of a difference between the two to really make the move. Battier is definitely smarter than Artest, but they are more or less the same player. Defensive specialist who have lost a step but still play tough, physical defense. Battier is just as limited as Artest is on offense. He's pretty much relegated to corner threes, jump hooks and hustle plays.

Not like any team is taking Artest off the Lakers' hands anyways.

I dont exactly like Mike Brown, but #@$% it, he will probably be the head coach of my favorite team in basketball, so I guess I might as well support.

Add me to the list.
