Was happy with what I saw last night, but I gotta ask, did Lamar work on his outside shooting over the summer? It seems like he is much more trigger happy outthere, but his results have been decent so far. I mean, if he added a little range to his game........

I just hope it's not something that makes him become like Sheed where he rather jack up 3's and never be in the paint. Keep an eye on that.

Ron played pretty well. Didn't shoot great, but I don't expect him too. I expect him to cause some problems for other teams on D, make some nicepasses, move the ball, get a board or two, and run the show when Kobe/Gasol are on the bench, I think he did those things. Nice job.


Still a lot of rust obviously, Phil workin out the kinks, rotations and what not. So no complaints here.

for pretty much all those fools yesterday sayin the same thing I did all summer,Lakers, Celtics, Magic, and that's about it. Spurs and Cavs are nice, but they need more then what they currently have to win the title. Certainly theycould make a move, but as of right now, they don't matter. Cavs gonna pound on crap teams, and then get it handed to them by the elite 3-4 teams. Justlike last year.

LO is that dude who is always going to frustrate us Laker fans with his style of play. Before fans including myself always complained when he first got here in04 that he didn't shoot enough and wasn't involved enough in the offense. Now we have fans complaining about him shooting to much

I found it funny that whenever the Lakers were in transition, the first Laker down would automatically go into the post. Whether it was Kobe, Lamar, Ron orBynum. If they had Pau out there that means 5 Lakers could run into the post. There's always a mismatch out there.

I wasn't complaining one bit, I asked if he had worked on his shot over the summer, had anyone heard anything? Then I said I hope he stays grounded, anddoesn't go the way of Rasheed. None of that is complaining. That's observations, questions, and hopes for the future.

The defending champion Lakers opened their season in "we played the Clippers" form, getting outshot and outrebounded but still winning. Kobe takes the early league lead in shots taken, a lead he is sure to never relinquish.

Right know my observations so far is that Ron Ron is still learning the triangle offense, on where he needs to pick his spots during times of the game when theteam needs him to be aggressive. It's also going to be interesting to see how Bynum's evolving game is going to affect the number of touches Pau isgoing to get. Honestly right now my main concerns with Drew is him staying healthy, and also staying out of foul trouble.

The FIRST thing I noticed last night, as soon as the ring ceremony started and we could see players feet: the amount of Zoom Kobe IVs that the Lakers werewearing.

That's awesome! I don't mean that from a shoe collector's standpoint, like 'Oh snap! They're all wearing ZKIVs! Right on!' No, I meanthat from a Lakers' fan standpoint. They are all wearing the signature model of their team leader, their current Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant. Pretty much everNike endorsed Laker was wearing Kobes, and anyone who thinks that they just wear what Nike sends and they don't have a choice is naive. If you're withNike and you're on the Lakers and you want to wear Kobes, you're getting Kobes. If you're with Nike and on the Lakers and you want to wearsomething else in a Laker colorway, you will. I'm pretty sure Derek Fisher was wearing something else, and he's with Nike.

But yeah, thought that was awesome, and I think it speaks volumes about the team's cohesion.

About the game, seemed like things were the same as last season, if not slightly better (just slightly). I definitely like Ron's style of defense betterthan Ariza's; that's not to say Ron's a better defender. I'm just saying I like his style better; always have. he plays more physical, and Ilove it. Wasn't too impressed with his offense in the post, though. And I threw up a little in my mouth when he missed back-to-back 3s in the corner off ofNICE ball rotation that ended with him in the corner. Two times in a row, the ball had moved around beautifully, setting him up for wide open corner 3s...*clank* both times.

Farmar seemed a little more active and focused than I remember.

Morrison, I really thought Phil would use him more this season, but I read an article earlier this week that suggested he'll be seldom used, and that'sdisappointing to me. I think he could fit in beautifully with us.

Hopefully Lamar's been practicing from outside this summer, because he definitely shot more outside shots than I remember from last season.

But... this is all off of just one game. Our opinions will all be pretty solid by Christmas.

Just glad to see the purple and gold back out there again.

I think the only Laker who I haven't seen once rock a pair of ZKIV's or any of the past Zoom Kobe's is Jordan Farmar. Farmar has been with adidasever since his college days @ UCLA. I also remember reading somewhere that the Zoom Kobe V the only other player in the league who's allowed to wear themis Demar Derozan and that he's the first athlete signed to team Kobe.

If anyone can dig up pics of Farmar rocking ZKIV or other Zoom Kobe's post them on here.

Ska, off of what you said, I noticed last night (and I wonderded at the time if you noticed it also) but Kobe did have a different sort of look. When hewalked down the line of former players (and I noticed even more with Phil) they both seemed eager to stop and talk with Fox and Horry. Obviously becasue theyeach know those guys better then Cooper, or Worthy and what not, but I don't think old Kobe, scratch that, the young Kobe would even care to stop and chatfor a sec with them.

Also, the very first time Artest made a play, who was there first to shake hands with him? Kobe, who practically sprinted too him to say good job. That'scertainly new.

And as you said, a bunch of the players were wearin his shoes, something that they would not have done in years before.


He's still a cocky dude and turns his swag on and off with the camera, but he seems to be much better relating to his teammates. Maybe not perfect yet, Idon't think he'll ever be the life of the party like Lamar, or the respected one like Derek, but he's a thousand times better then 2002 type Kobe. And that can only help us.

My boy Bolt55 did it. IMO, if I had the ends, I'd do it too. The replica ring that comes with it is PIFF!

Only problem is, the ring comes in three pieces. But still dope IMO.

It was funny watching Kobe "cheesing" at the sight of the banner.
