Burt Bacharach - The Look Of Love (The Casino Royale version)
Was listening and recognized the Dilla sample in that

Been really getting into Kenny Barron lately.. the more I listen the more he's becoming one of my all-time favorite pianists

If you have Spotify (couldn't find it on youtube) their version of his song "Delores St SF" is pure beauty.

RIP Dilla.... You are sorely missed. I know it's not jazz, but I don't think I'm derailing the thread by posting this. I've been listening to this lost scrolls a lot. Also posted the link to listen to an feature about how Dilla's music & record collection was reunited with his mom & how we're benefiting from it by getting new music/releases...

It's funny you posted some Kenny Barron because I just bought his new album, Kenny Barron & The Brazilian Knights. Can never go wrong with some Brazilian/Samba inspired jazz... Couldn't find anything on youtube from the new album so you can preview with the following link.

Suite For Ma Dukes Orchestra - Untitled / Fantastic ((J Dilla Tribute)

Speaking of Dilla, I came across this orchestral rework of a track he did for Slum Village. I loved it....

The original instrumental

Which was taken from Stereolab's Refractions In The Plastic Pulse...

Som Tres - Homenagem a Mongo

Some 60s samba funk/soul.... I stayed up waaay to late because City of God was on & I had to watch it all the way to the end even though I have the dvd... Made me find my Samba Soul 70 on my iPhone to listen to a few tracks...

Elise Regina - Bicho Do Mato

Good looks on that Kenny Barron, I just bought it

Suite For Ma Dukes Orchestra - Untitled / Fantastic ((J Dilla Tribute)

Speaking of Dilla, I came across this orchestral rework of a track he did for Slum Village. I loved it....

Stereolab is piffery, I actually sampled that Refractions in the Plastic Pulse thinking "there's no way anyone else used this random little sound".. then literally like 3 days ago I was listening to that song and noticed that Dilla sampled the same exact part. I just shook my head and said "Goddammit.. This guy Dilla.. :lol :{

Speaking of that song, thus might have been posted before but

Kendrick Scott - Be Water

Taken from a famous Bruce Lee interview.

"Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now, you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash! Be water, my friend."

The remix... :lol

Branford Marsalis - Mo Better Blues (Soil & Pimp Sessions version also) & Again Never

^ I like Diana and I like that song... but such a shame that should couldn't quite reach that high-note! THAT would be so nice... It's tough to sing though, no doubt.

Terence Blanchard - Let's Get Lost (ft. Diana Krall) & On The Sunny Side of the Street (ft. Cassandra Wilson)

SinnerP - Diana's cover from her Rio dvd concert was ok, but I like it because it's flawed. In the context of the concert, the song was a light moment (I think it might've even been impromptu moment). Sometimes the best moments in music are when the performance is flawed (yet raw) or when a mistake occurs.

Case in point, when Aretha Franklin is singing the outro of You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman on the studio version (as the song is fading out), he voice goes hoarse. The producers & sound engineers argued about redoing the song because of that but I think it makes the song. In fact, if I hear the song, I have to listen to the whole thing because I wait for that part.

Anyway some more covers from Terence Blanchard's Let's Get Lost album.

David Holmes - One Note Samba (Extract)

From the Out Of Sight soundtrack which is an underrated/under-appreciated movie IMO. There have been several versions of this song written by Antonio Carlos Jobim but this one's amusing to me, so much so it's the ring tone for my iPhone right now & has been for a while.

Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd - One Note Samba (Samba de Uma Nota So)

Frank Sinatra

Astrud Gilberto

^ Yeah, I hear ya... the imperfections of live performances.

Good looks on the Out of Sight OST... didn't know about that!

Jimmy McGriff - Green Dolphin Street

Nice bump...

This is a great album & very hard to find now. McGriff took his quintet to play at Chicago's Cook county jail in '72. He recorded the concert & it went so well, he put it out on record. Great version of this song which was sampled by A Tribe Called Quest.

Grant Green - Down here on the Ground

Another great Tribe sample....

Derrick Hodge - We Live Today (ft. Common)

Bassist extraordinaire hailing from the city of brotherly love with a song featuring Com...

Not sure what song this is, but Hodge jamming with Glasper & Chris Dave....

Hodge & Glasper, impromptu jam of Smells Like Teen Spirit...

Snarky Puppy - Young Stuff & Bent Nails

One of Texas' finest. This band usually records live no overdubs & such... Elements of jazz, funk, & some r&b...
