Bemused is a good word when he didn't even **** him on at all like it was made out to be

He just gave his honest opinion unlike some of the other ex-teammates turned pundits who are always on eggshells because they're afraid to lose access to dude and he got called jealous and ugly for it like a HS beef

💯

Got more machines than artists/poets now, it gets drilled out of them from a young age.

Why I have zero problem with the rare or occasional players who like showing their personality in their game, it gets flamed in England but the game should always be fun instead of super serious 10o% of the time.

Yea Vini has definitely started getting that Neymar Ligue 1 treatment this season :smh:

Refs seemingly allow it too basically making it seem like sanctioned punishment for playing expressively.

The whole thing of that sort of thing trying to get beaten out of the game is why I rock with Brazilian or other South American players so much. They tend to still play with that childlike joy/flair and rarely forget it no matter how much it might offend others sensibilities in European leagues.

Elsewhere football is uber regimented now and you're trained to be as risk averse with the ball as possible so you don't see players trying outside of the box things with the ball as often. Dribbling/possession with the ball gets bypassed altogether in favor of quick rehearsed passing and maintaining play patterns.

Feels a lot more systemic/robot like compared to the improvisational artistry of the greats of the past that made people fall in love with the game worldwide.

It is why Brazil or Argentina need to win the world cup.
It is why PSG needs to have success in champions league.

Teams copy winning teams. Germany, Demark, Switzerland and Bayern Munich success means mechanical, efficient, and system driven soccer. No individual flare or exceptionalism.

Also, there was an article a few years back that showed a high correlation between the style of play used by most nations at a world cup to that of the most recent Champions League Champion.

If the theory is correct, Real Madrid's conservative style will be mimicked by most teams at this year's world cup. I am talking about Madrid's style used against big teams not against Cadiz or Elche.lol
They could play with no GK and 5 forwards against those guys.

Damn man I wanted to see Nkunku ball out. France chances getting harder and harder.

Are we gonna have an official World Cup thread like last time? But we all post in both 😂

Been binging footy documentaries before the world cup starts
There’s Captains on Netflix as well. I gotta go thru that

- I’ve been going thru highlights of the last two WCs including some PK shootouts. The hype and everything is so high I don’t want it to go to every two years (to say the least)

Still dont feel like a legit wc due for being in the winter. In DC we do viewing parties for usa game outside in Dupont Circle.. going to be in the 30s-40s for usa vs wales next week compared to summer 80s. Smh
