Rutgers just has a huge number of alumni in NYC. Somewhere near 150k…but as you said, most of them probably don’t give a **** about Rutgers football.

Penn State is next closest with somewhere between 30k-40k. And you know a significant portion of them are followers.

Exactly. Rutgers alums don’t give a ****. Nobody changing cable networks or subscribing to B1G Network for Rutgers.

Hell, for as crappy as Illinois is, they obviously have a loyal fan base in Chicago.

Mario’s got Nevin going back to work, huh?

Very impressive past few weeks.
Multiple billionaires backing the program. But I think it’s more that he’s a recruiting maniac than the $$$. Been outbid on multiple of these elite guys and still closed, including Mauigoa and Rashada.

Rutgers averaged 44,000+ people at their games last year. Illinois averaged 35,000.

Rutgers stadium seats 52,000 people. Illinois seats 61,000.

Rutgers got good TV numbers that year they were ranked in the top 10, and their NCAA tourney game this year seemed to have pretty good viewership/turnout at bars.

Yeah that’s actually impressive. Rutgers is way more accessible than driving 2 hrs from Chicago to the middle of nowhere to watch an awful Illinois team. If I was a Rutgers alum, I wouldn’t mind making the 40ish mile trip from Manhattan to go catch a game or two. Just pointing out that most of the B1G teams are a good fit for different reasons, even the weak links. I can’t say the same for a lot the teams in other conferences.

It’s also not just about Rutgers themselves it’s about their area. They were added to get the B1G in that area, meaning sure people won’t be watching Rutgers vs Northwestern but they will watch Michigan vs Penn State or whoever is playing that week.

Illinois will always be safe as they’re an original member but they also bring the Chicago/Southern IL market. Even though you drive through Chicago and see a bunch of signs saying Northwestern is “Chicago’s B10 team” it’s definitely not :lol

Yep, it’s all about the market. Always thought it was funny seeing those Northwestern signs in the Chi. It’s like going to Dallas and seeing the “SMU is Dallas’ team” billboards. Yeah, sure.

Yeah I live here in Champaign so I’ve gone to a few Northwestern games up in Chicago when they play Ohio state and man it was probably 70/30 Buckeye fans :lol

Even when they come here to Champaign to play they don’t have many fans

 Add UGA, UF, Tennessee and everyone else who we’ve beat out for top guys too.

Legitimately may land:

-Olaus Alinen
-Samson Okunlola
-John Walker
-Joenel Aguero
- Malik Bryant
-Peyton Kirkland
- Tommy Kinsler

All before the end of the month :wow:

Same thing he did at UO. Start fast as hell to build momentum. Now just gotta hold onto them the whole way.

Let’s see where Miami is in November. My bet, not top 10, probably 20’s if ranked at all.

Does he have any football history in Miami? Serious question, because if not you’re using the Michael Jordan is from New York logic.
he literally lists that he’s from Miami in his Twitter bio. Don’t think MJ is running around claiming Brooklyn.

You can have that but it doesn’t invalidate my point that he’s a Georgia football product.

Just spreading the talent around. Like I said UGA would be playoffs/nat game every year if the talent stayed home, but Miami beaches and atmosphere are a far cry from inland metro Atlanta. I don’t love it but I can’t blame him either.

Not to be that guy but Georgia really wasn't pushing hard for this kid. We're going to end up with three inside linebackers rated higher than him.
