Dwight didn’t need to polish his offensive game. He was dominant without one. Sucks he was so mentally soft.

Too bad Dwight never reached his full potential.
He was averaging 20 and 10 with ease in Orlando, just based on his athleticism.
Imagine if he polished his offensive game or even developed some post moves.
Shaq wouldnt work with him since Shaq is a primadonna
We all know working with Hakeem is a scam lol
Believe he had Ewing as a asst coach in Orlando but that couldve been towards his last year or 2

There have been players who flamed out in less than three years. Dwight Howard is an HoF basketball player. He's not the biggest disappointment in two decades

Not even close. At least he had multiple all-star seasons and got his team to the Finals once. That’s more than a lot of high picks can say. TBH, unless he really picks it up, I’d say Andrew Wiggins is on his way to being more disappointing than Dwert.

IN THE ILL-FATED 2012-13 season, Memphis, Tennessee, was where all of the Lakers' pent-up dysfunction spilled out.

Bryant, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash & Co. aired their grievances at a morning shootaround, leaving Howard in near tears in the locker room, according to sources. Howard had to be coaxed out to join the team on the court after everyone had said their piece.

i'd say he did reach his full potential in orlando. he just blossomed sooner than expected, and had a shorter window of excellence. But with no post moves, he have multiple 40pt games. dbl-dbl every night. Game changer on defense. rim protector. light on his feet. soft touch around the rim. That was his prime.

it was all downhill from there. and the injuries piled on.

Don't get me wrong, Dwight has had an amazing career.
But the all-time greats work on their weaknesses and their craft.
Lebron didn't have a reliable jumper his first couple of years but was still averaging 25+ PPG.
Now he's developed into a good/solid shooter.

An all NBA guy for 8 seasons and 3x DPOY didn’t reach his potential?

Dwight was a sure fire MVP candidate his last 2-3 years on Orlando... He hit the Lakers at age 27, most stars are beginning to reach their Apex at that point. he slipped more & more every year after that season & turned into a journeyman on bad teams.. So no he didn't reach his potential, he was still a very good player for a few years but there's no way you should reach 27 and your prime years are behind you. His impact was so big on ORL that many people expected him to at the very least continue to be a MVP caliber dude until atleast 31-32

Injuries breh.

And I won’t assume he didn’t work on his game either. The game also started trending away from back to the basket bigs. And then there’s the rumors of him not wanting to play as much PNR.

Okay Injuries happened & that effected him, which in turn stopped him from reaching his full potential. Also his mindset & immaturity stopped him from doing so also. Dude was never a very skilled dude around the basket in the first place & then after dealing with the injuries he started complaining about not getting enough touches in the post as if he was prime shaq. So a mixture of Both stopped him.

full potential? ya expect him to be hakeem?
the guy was a rebounding and basket protecting machine when healthy. was able to still squeeze out close to 20 pts despite his lack of offensive skills.
attitude could've been better, but he was a huge part of orlando's success (and downfall)

Dwert always wanted to be the focal point of an offense when his skillset was never really tailored to be a go to guy. His best success was with SVG being a PnR big that terrorized the offensive glass and was a monster on defense. The injuries definitely exacerbated the idea that he needed to be more of that type of player. It's why he clashed with Bean and Beard.
