Official 2017-2018 Knicks season thread

man we need a top 6 -ish pick this year
and another top 5 pick next year
cause as of now this team is on a fast track to nowhere

"Frank Ntilikina looks like a young Kyrie Irving" - Jarrett Jack

**** Dennis smith
Donovan Mitchell :pimp:

That boy guuuuud
Coulda traded for mudiay and not signed Timmy for that ridiculous contract .
But whatever I think its just our talent development sucks tbh

Frank doesn’t seem to have that quick step and ball handling skills the elite pgs got.
Curry/kyrie/dame

He can def develop it the size and tools are there but he needs to work at it

Mitchell was awesome the moment he stepped on the court in Summer League.

Of course it helps that the Jazz offense has been basically "here have the ball and do something" and Utah is a place you can ball out with zero pressure whatsoever. When you have a guy who has true star potential that usually works for development.

Mitchell and Smith Jr are both going to be perennial All-Star guards.

Donovan plays FAR above a rookie level though, having a couple years on his peers probably helps with that.

Hopefully Frank can develop into their type of talent but it's kinda crazy that we passed up on those 2 sure things for a project.

Knicks fans deserved one of those 2 kids lighting up the Garden :smh:

Mitchell sure but I still don’t see much to like with DSJr

Speaking without bias or anything he still strikes me as a player who’s game will always be the same and he won’t look evolve it so long as he’s able to get to the rim

Just going off of others players with his same play style that have come and gone. Might’ve worked for him some years ago, but not in today’s NBA

Time will tell though

the same things were said about Russ, and now look at him. you're right though. time will tell.

Nah the book was different on Russ, tweener and defensive specialist was his thing.

I really don't get the DS Jr. thing at all. People are acting like he's doing much better than he is. Yeah he's an exciting athlete, okay. Small guys who score inefficiently are a dime a dozen.

Russ is still as inefficient as he ever was if he’s not dunking the ball

He just became a high intensity defender and a better passer

Mitchell being coached by Quin Snyder gives him a big advantage over pretty much every rookie.

Y'all are high.

Kid is a star. He's CP3 with hops. I have no reason to vouch for him except that he's legit good.

He gave LA like 20 in a half, he's going at and often getting the best of HoF guards like Steph and CP3. And his defense is vastly underrated. He's averaging more steals than Frank now. Kid can be a 25/7/5/2 player for years to come.

I don't know if y'all talent analysis is sus, y'all just watch highlights or y'all are just hating because we passed on him and now have Frank..but either way y'all are bugging. Almost every commentator in arenas around the league have been giving him high praise.

How can you can look at a guy 50 games into his rookie season and call him CP3 when he’s shooting 39% and 67% from the line?

Those dunks getting to your head man

He’s also only averaging 0.01 more steals than Frank in nearly 10 more minutes so I dunno why you bothered to bring that up

This how I know you’re just hating. “He’s only averaging more than Frank...”

I thought he was an abysmal defender?

And the dunks are the least impressive part of his game.

The kid gets the game on an elite level. That’s what you look for in players. The shooting averages and TOs are rookie gripes than come from inexperience and need for decision making growth. Does this young player understand what’s going on, on the floor and know how to affect it? That’s what you look for in young players. There’s no question that DS has that quality. So either y’all are just haters or y’all really don’t know anything about basketball.

How do you fix your fingers to criticize a player putting up the numbers Dennis Smith is and Stan for a dude that almost had 0s across the board in 21 minutes of play? Wild.

I didn’t bring up Frank man, you did

But I’m not gonna knock you for supporting your favorite player either

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

frank is more like thanasis than giannis rn. & DSJ the truth man. smooth as hell on the court and great feel for whats goin on like goldenchild9 goldenchild9 said. add in that he's on the mavs  plus they have 0 rim protection, & dirk basically just plays on offense so its 4 on 5 so of course his defense #s will probably lack rn in his first year. (not saying he will become all-defense but its no worse than many other pg's)

The drose comparisons are lazy. The athleticism is just a plus he's not just recklessly using his speed he picks his spots very well for a rookie
