speaking of first times wasnt it the first time the celtics lost a game 7 last year? like guy above said theres a first time for everything...

Yeah I mean what happened to that streak of the Spurs winning a ring in every odd numbered year? Or the team winning game 5 of the finals when it's tied 2-2 going on to win the whole thing?

[h3]Gasol's sore hamstring[/h3]
8:52AM ET

[h5]Pau Gasol | Lakers [/h5]

Pau Gasol had to leave near the end of the third quarter on Wednesday against the Rockets because of a sore left hamstring. He returned later in the fourth quarter, but went 0-2 from the floor and grabbed two rebounds.

"It's a little sore," Gasol told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "It bothered me out there. Today it didn't get loose at all so I couldn't play the way I wanted to. ... I'll take it day-by-day and see how it feels [Thursday]. Hopefully I will give it a rest tomorrow and recover. As you all know, I've been playing quite a bit."

Gasol has been playing too many minutes this season and that could be the reason for the hamstring issue. Last season he missed the first 17 games due to strains to both his hamstrings.

"Hopefully it's just tight from fatigue," said Gasol, who played 40-plus minutes in each of L.A.'s past four games coming into Wednesday and seven of their past 10. "My concern is that it doesn't get better or gets worse and becomes a problem. ... Then we'll really have a problem."

[h5]Lance Stephenson | Pacers [/h5]

Pacers president Larry Bird won't send rookie Lance Stephenson to the D-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the near future, but could do it later in the season.

"Not right now, because I think he needs to be here," Bird told The Indianapolis Star. "But you never know, later on in the season we might send him there to get some time."

Bird prefers to have Stephenson stay with the Pacers, even if the rookie isn't playing, so he can learn Jim O'Brien's system.

"We do a lot of stuff in practice that he needs to learn," Bird said. "Jimmy stays on him pretty tough. I'm very high on the kid. I want him to be part of the team whether he's dressing or not."

[h5]Toronto Raptors [/h5]

There was a report Wednesday morning that Rogers Communications is in talks to buy majority interest in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.

The Toronto Sun spoke with Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, on Wednesday night and he called the report "nonsense and pure speculation."

"No one has come to me about it," said Tanenbaum. "I can't figure out where any of this came from. If they don't come to me, there's no deal to be made, no story to be told."

According to the newspaper, Tanenbaum owns the right of first refusal of all share transfers of MLSEL.

Toronto Raptors power forward Reggie Evans had surgery Wednesday to repair a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot and will be sidelined for eight weeks.

While Evans is out, head coach Jay Triano will start Amir Johnson or Joey Dorsey.

[h5]Francisco Garcia | Kings [/h5]

According to The Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Kings have filed a $4 million product liability lawsuit due to injuries suffered by Francisco Garcia.

In October of 2009, Garcia suffered a broken wrist when the Gymnic "Burst Resistant Plus" Stability Ball exploded while he was lifting weights.

Three defendants (companies) have been named in the suit.

"Our position is that, had Perform Better done its job to the consumers, which includes the Sacramento Kings and 'Cisco García, had they not told the trainers that this is the way to use the ball ... this event never would have happened," attorney Roger A. Dreyer said.

[h5]Samuel Dalembert | Kings [/h5]

Kings center http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=991Samuel Dalembert is suffering from right knee tendinitis and could miss the next two games.

Head coach Paul Westphal said the team will consider recalling rookie http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=4262Hassan Whiteside, who was assigned to the Reno Bighorns on Monday.

"We'll have to see how soon Sammy will be back," Westphal told the The Sacramento Bee. "Right now if Sammy's out we have to consider bringing Whiteside back from the D-League because we could have some real serious foul problems with our starting frontcourt with Darnell Jackson and Carl Landry the only guys to back them up that makes us a little thin."

Rookie http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=4258DeMarcus Cousins will replace Dalembert as the starting center, even though he has had issues with Westphal in the last week.

The Kings play the Lakers on Friday and Mavericks on Saturday.

[h5]Paul Westphal | Kings [/h5]

UPDATE: Even though the Kings are struggling on and off the floor, basketball president Geoff Petrie is still backing Westphal because the team is young.

"The biggest factor of all is that we're still rebuilding," Petrie tells The Sacramento Bee. "But over the course of the season as a whole, you want to walk away feeling there has been some improvement."

Petrie won't tell Westphal who to play and when to play them.

"My approach on that has always been to tell (the coach) what I see and to an extent what I think about certain things," Petrie said. "But I've never been one to say, 'You have to do this.' "

----

The Kings brought in coach Paul Westphal last season. He impressed management enough that they picked up his third-year option for the 2011-12 season in April.

But 2010-11 has been a trying year for Westphal and the Kings so far. They're currently 4-11. Their offensive efficiency (99.7) ranks 27th in the league, and Beno Udrih recently declared there's too much one-on-one ball happening.

Reigning rookie of the year Tyreke Evans has gotten off to slow start. And with some prickly personalities -- such as rookie DeMarcus Cousins, who's rubbed both coaches and players the wrong way -- everyone certainly isn't on the same page.

And it's leading some, like Tom Ziller of Sactown Royalty, to write time might be running out for Westphal.

"This is the beginning of the self-preservation phase of Westphal's tenure, and it's not a good look," Ziller wrote after the Kings lost a fourth-quarter lead to the Bulls on Saturday. "A couple wins can turn it around, but they need to arrive by express mail ... Whether it's his fault or not, Westphal's clock is a'tickin'."

The Kings play the Pacers (7-7 and looking like a playoff team), Lakers (13-3) and Mavericks (12-4) next week, so there's little relief as far as opponents are concerned in the immediate future -- meaning the team may continue to slide.

[h5]Detroit Pistons [/h5]

According to The National, NBA commissioner David Stern confirmed that two separate investment groups in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Qatar are having "ongoing" negotiations to buy the Detroit Pistons.

"The interest and discussions have taken place in reference to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. There is more than one discussion," Stern said. "That is a team that has been, and is having negotiations with different potential investors."

Last month, Mike Ilitch, the owner of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers, lost his exclusive bidding rights for the NBA team.

[h5]Evan Turner | 76ers [/h5]

Starting shooting guard http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=4239Evan Turner has struggled, 2-14 from the floor the last four games, since http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2386Andre Iguodala returned to the lineup. 76ers head coach Doug Collins says he's considering moving the rookie back to the bench.

"I would. I talked to Evan. I think, right now, he just wants to do so well," Collins to the Philadelphia Daily News. "He puts so much pressure on himself. The last four games, in [81] minutes, he's gotten eight rebounds. That's the thing I was talking to him about. Even [Andres Nocioni] talked to him a little bit about going to Chicago his first year and he couldn't shoot, and his focus was on how many rebounds he could get. I think Evan is trying to find his way with that [starting] group. Definitely, I will consider [removing him as a starter]."

When Iguodala missed five games with tendonitis in his right Achilles, Turner shot 23-for-51 (45 percent) and averaged 8.2 rebounds.

Bob ****ey of the Philadelphia Daily News thinks Iguodala will be traded since Turner struggles so much with the veteran.

****ey writes: "I've said all along that my feeling is the Sixers will deal Iguodala at some point this season, probably after the midway point. Is the move now more necessary being that the No. 2 pick can't seem to play with Iguodala? Could be. Certainly the organization wants to build the future around the backcourt of Jrue Holiday and Turner. But if Turner's growth is stunted because of his inability to play with Iguodala, what's the solution?"

Robin Lopez took some shots on Wednesday during practice. It was the first time he had done that since tearing ligaments in his left knee Nov. 14.

"I've been watching for a little bit, so it's definitely good to get out there," Lopez told The Arizona Republic. "Last year, I was sitting for a lot longer (because of a foot fracture) so I'm kind of curious to where I'll be conditioning wise."

According to head coach Alvin Gentry, Lopez is still two weeks away from being cleared to practice without restriction. He will then need another two or three weeks to get his conditioning and fitness up to a level where he'll be able to return to the active roster.

Joe Johnson's right elbow has been bothering him off and on this season. Wednesday it was determined, after meeting with Dr. James Andrews in Alabama, that he would need to have surgery to remove "loose bodies" from the elbow. The Hawks project he will be sidelined four to six weeks.

"It just got unbearable yesterday," Johnson told The Associated Press Wednesday night.

Head coach Larry Drew started Maurice Evans against Memphis on Wednesday. He may decide at some point to move Evans back to the bench at start Jamal Crawford.

"I certainly have to make some adjustments because he is a big part of what we do," Drew told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We do have a lot of motion [offense], but he is still the guy who breaks the defense down and can go find his shot when he wants to."
