There's no way Rose at the top of the MVP race right now over Paul.

Orlando needs to go out and rent Carmelo for the rest of the season. Vince, Anderson, Vasquez and two 1st rounders.

I live in Charlotte and the Bobcats suck so far this year. They are not going back to the playoffs without some big changes.

before the season my friend said they should gamble on a trade for arenas. But yeah, renting melo sounds like a much safer idea. they would have a legitimate shot at the title this year. And who knows maybe he would stay

every day that passes you would assume his value goes down... but the CBA could make him sign there at the last second

enjoy this year while you can guys. we might have to go without football and basketball next year

NEWYORK — The executive director of the NBA players association says he is"99 percent sure" there will be a lockout next summer.

With negotiations toward a new collective bargaining agreementgoing nowhere, Billy Hunter says a work stoppage is "highly probable"and he's been instructing his players to save their money.

Hunter says NBA owners want players to give back too much in the next CBA, from salaries to contract lengths.

There was no progress in the latest meeting, and the sides hope tomeet again next month. But Hunter says the owners aren't budging, so hedoesn't "see anything else right now" other than a stoppage.
Lee relieved elbow is healing
10:38AM ET

[h5]David Lee | Warriors [/h5]

David Lee's elbow is doing much better and he is relieved the infection is finally dissipating.

"They were giving me strong stuff and nothing was helping," Lee tells The Oakland Tribune. "They were telling me 'If we don't get this thing better soon, we're cutting your arm from (biceps) to (forearm), filleting the whole thing open. And we may have to cut out your biceps muscle and forearm muscle and see what's going on and how things are progressing.'

"The fact that it could be limited to a two-week situation, a two-and-a-half week deal, is a real blessing from a medical standpoint. I'm just happy we were able to figure it out."

According to the newspaper, Lee is hoping to return against San Antonio on Nov. 30 or Phoenix on Dec. 2.

[h5]Vince Carter | Magic [/h5]

Vince Carter sprained his left knee with less than six minutes remaining in Monday's game against the Spurs. He will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

"When I made the spin move and went up for the layup, as I landed, I just felt some sharp pain go through my knee, under the kneecap more so than anything," he told the Orlando Sentinel after the game. "I just wasn't sure. I just wanted to go to the back and try to run it off and I couldn't. I couldn't get any push off on it.

"So, I don't know what it is. I've looked at it. It's a little swollen right now, so it's really hard to tell."

Carter wasn't sure if he'll have an MRI to check out the knee.

http://
Stein: Heat after Dampier
10:10AM ET

[h5]Miami Heat [/h5]

UPDATE No. 2: CBSSports.com is reporting Dampier is expected to sign a deal with the Heat for the pro-rated veteran minimum.

To make room on the roster the team will probably waive rookie Dexter Pittman or veteran Jamaal Magloire.

----

UPDATE: According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Heat are targeting Dampier as their top choice and could sign him by the end of the week.

----

The http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=miaMiami Heat should have a rough idea about the length of time Udonis Haslem will be sidelined after he visits a specialist on Monday. Heat president Pat Riley could make a roster move, if it is determined Haslem will be out for an extended period of time.

ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein report the Heat could try to sign http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=181Erick Dampier or http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2810Shavlik Randolph, who played for them last season.

Riley acknowledged Sunday night that the team will miss Haslem's rebounding and that might be the impetus to sign a player who can get the ball off the rim.

"There's a possibility we might need more rebounding," Riley said. "We need more rebounding, and we need obviously somebody that is going to have a big body in the paint that can make a difference and have an impact. We will consider something like that."

The Heat already has a full 15-man roster, so someone would need to be traded or released to open up a spot.

The team could also stand pat and give Haslem's minutes to Juwan Howard or Jamaal Magloire.

The NBA and NBPA had another negotiation session last week and little, if no progress was made between the two sides. Monday, NBPA executive director Billy Hunter spoke to the media and said he is "99 percent sure" the owners will lockout the players when the current collective bargaining agreement expires on June 30.

"I think it's highly probable that there will be a lockout and that's what I'm preparing for because I don't see anything else right now," Hunter told the Associated Press.

NBA commissioner David Stern and deputy commissioner Adam Silver have done a lot of talking in the press and Hunter thought it was time he spoke up.

"I think the message has to be driven home to I guess that hawkish group of owners that if they're inclined, if they want to lock us out -- because we're not going to strike -- if they want to lock us out and they want to pull the roof down on themselves, then hey, have at it," Hunter said.

Hunter is telling all the union members to save money. Reportedly the NBPA has $175 million available if some of the players need help next summer.

The owners are looking to slash their losses and the first way for them is to reduce the 57 percent of BRI (basketball related income) the players get to 50 percent. The union is willing to reduce the percentage, but probably not down to a 50-50 split.

[h5]Baron Davis | Clippers [/h5]

Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro had hoped to have point guard Baron Davis back in the lineup by Thanksgiving, but that probably won't happen.

"The plan is to get him back here Thursday, and I won't have an answer until I see him in practice and see where he is physically and how his knee reacts, and then we can make that decision," Del Negro told the Los Angeles Times. "He hasn't gone full throttle -- done a lot of individual stuff. He's putting that work in, but he's not at the level right now that I think he's comfortable at."

Davis has been dealing with swelling in his left knee for the last couple of weeks.

[h5]Chris Kaman | Clippers [/h5]

Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said over the weekend that he thought Chris Kaman needed another week before he would return to the lineup. On Monday night the center told ESPNLosAngeles.com that he wants to play on Thanksgiving against Sacramento.

"I think I'll play Thursday," Kaman said. "Our trainers have done a good job, and I've been doing everything I can to get back."

Del Negro wasn't as optimistic about Kaman's early return to the active roster.

"He thinks that," Del Negro said. "But we have to see how he does Tuesday and Wednesday, see how his ankle reacts. If we play him Thursday and it blows up, then he's out again.

"We have to be smart about it. He's a little more optimistic because he wants to get out there."

Walsh plans to work while he rehabs from the surgery.

"I still have a brain and I still have a phone and I'll be in touch with everyone," Walsh said.

http://
Lopez fine with Johnson's criticism
8:03AM ET

[h5]Brook Lopez | Nets [/h5]

Nets head coach Avery Johnson was vocal Monday concerning the poor play from center Brook Lopez during the recent West Coast trip. Lopez doesn't mind the criticism from his coach.

"It's good," Lopez told The Star-Ledger. "It means he cares. Every time I think I've improved a little, or covered what he told me to do, he always gives me something new. He just helps me to always improve in every area."

Johnson wants the young center to finish stronger when he's at the hoop and play more physically.

"He's been working with me for 13 games, okay? And he's not there yet," Johnson said. "He's not a finished product -- he's 22 years old. He was a power forward, basically, in college. We're holding him more accountable defensively. I think recently you've seen him defend the paint a little bit better than he did a week ago."

http://
How much did Roy practice?
7:19AM ET

[h5]Brandon Roy | Trail Blazers [/h5]

Brandon Roy and head coach Nate McMillan spoke on Monday as practice was concluding and both had different versions as to what the shooting guard did during the session.

"I watched a lot." Roy told The Oregonian, "I did some three-man weaves, stuff like that. Lot of no-contact. (The knee) is fine right now. It's fine after doing a little bit of running and shooting. I shot a little bit and did some weaves, did a couple little drills with the team, shooting and stuff, and it felt pretty good."

"He went through most of the practice, some scrimmaging," McMillan said. "He did some shooting. He went though some live (contact work). He looked OK."

When told Roy had had said something different, McMillan responded, "He went through some work. You asked me (if he went through contact). I said, 'Yeah.' "

It's possible Roy was trying to downplay when he might be activated again. Roy is officially listed as questionable for Friday's game against New Orleans.

Aaron Brooks and Yao Ming are recovering from left ankle injuries and both want to be the first to play in a game.

"We're in a race," Brooks told the Houston Chronicle. "We're neck and neck. Maybe we'll come back together."

Brooks had been wearing a protective boot on his left foot. Sunday he was cleared to remove it.

If there are no setbacks, Brooks could return to the active roster on Dec. 4 against Chicago. Yao's return may be a few days after that.

"Two weeks, three days ago," Yao said. "I'm counting the hours."

UPDATE No. 2: K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune spoke with Gibson late Monday night and the power forward said there's a good chance he'll miss the Lakers game, but he didn't think the injury was a long-term problem.

"They thought it could be serious, but it's not," Gibson said. "The doctor just said it's a matter of me getting through the pain. I should be OK soon."

---

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Bulls power forward Taj Gibson sat out of practice Sunday due to a pinched nerve in his right foot.

"It's real sore," Gibson told the paper. "I don't know if I'll be able to play Tuesday (against the Lakers), but at least we have two more days to let it heal."

If Gibson has to sit out Tuesday's bout with the defending champs, the Bulls will be short staffed up front against Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom.

It's possible Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau could elect to start both rookie Omer Asik and Joakim Noah in the starting lineup to combat L.A.'s size.

If not, Brian Scalabrine may get the starting call at power forward for the Bulls.

Andre Iguodala has been dealing with tendinitis in his right Achilles tendon and he missed the last three games. He practiced on Sunday and is optimistic that he'll be able to play on Tuesday against the Wizards.

"It's feeling better, and it's a matter of getting warmed up. It takes a long time." Iguodala told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "We had a good day in terms of running, and I got a chance to get up and down the court."

He says he may have come back too soon before and that's why he didn't rush back this time.

"I took a week off, and then we had back-to-backs and I didn't get a chance to practice. I went through a walk-through" before the Dallas game, he said, "but we didn't get a chance to practice like today, and we have another one [Monday], and that will help a lot."

It is not known if Iguodala will start at small forward when he returns, or replace rookie Evan Turner at shooting guard.

Shaquille O'Neal had a few offers during the summer, including from Atlanta, but he chose to sign with Boston because they are closer to winning a championship.

"These guys are one step away," O'Neal told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. "But I love this town. I've had a home in Buckhead for 15 years."

The Hawks had offered just a minimum contract, which is what he got from Boston, and that was another reason he headed to Beantown after playing in Cleveland last season.

Head coach Doc Rivers says O'Neal has embraced his role with the Celtics.

"We have good veterans," he said. "We are going to do it our way, nobody else's way, no matter who comes in the locker room. None of that individual stuff will be tolerated."

Rookie point guard John Wall has missed Washington's last four games with a sprained left foot. He could make his return against Philadelphia on Tuesday.

"John practiced today (Monday)," Wizards head coach Flip Saunders told Washington Examiner. "He went through the whole practice, did some live scrimmaging, did some good things. He said it was a little sore so we'll have to wait and see how he reacts after playing today and how it feels tomorrow."

Gilbert Arenas and Kirk Hinrich have been the starting backcourt in Wall's absence and Saunders said he's not sure who'll come off the bench.

"Haven't thought about that, will worry about it when the time comes," Saunders told The Washington Post. We're going to wait and see, play it by ear and see how it feels and what our medical people think."

The Wizards made two roster moves on Monday. First, they placed Lester Hudson on waivers. Second, they signed Alonzo Gee to a non-guaranteed rest-of-season contract.

Hudson says he wasn't surprised he was released.

"I knew it was going to be something," Hudson told The Washington Post. "The last couple of days, I had a feeling about something. I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. And it was this."

Hudson isn't sure if he'll sign with a D-League team, or try to go overseas.

"I don't know about the D-League. I don't think it's on my mind right now. Might be D-League, but it depends," Hudson said.

Gee signed two 10-day contracts last season with the Wizards, before agreeing to a partially guaranteed rest-of-season deal with the Spurs.

"It's an unbelievable feeling," Gee said. "I'm glad I had the opportunity to be here and it helped me out. They boosted my confidence up and I'm glad to be back. It's a young team and I feel like we can grow as a group."

UPDATE: According to the Philadelphia Daily News, head coach Doug Collins said he'll start Iguodala and Turner when both are healthy.

[h5]Shaquille O'Neal | Celtics [/h5]

[h5]John Wall | Wizards [/h5]

[h5]Alonzo Gee | Wizards [/h5]

Strap a maxi pad on it and get out there @#$%^.

I'm laughin at peeps sayin Dampier gonna do somethin.  How many fools these guys sign all summer, and after every single one people was ooohin and aaaahin.  When that gonna start workin out?  When that depth gonna start doin stuff?  But Damp is the answer now?

I wish the playoffs started today.  Spurs would get handled by the Nuggets.  Lakers v Blazers (thank you Lord)  Hornets vs Jazz (KLJ would be in heaven) and Thunder to wax the Mavs.  If that is the West Playoffs this year, it would be an awesome first round.

Rockets are trash SMH

The worst thing about this season so far for the Rockets is at this pace, they'll be finish worse than the Knicks, and making the swapping of the draft picks irrelevant. SMH again

Kobe still tough, with assists from the greats

MINNEAPOLIS – Out of nowhere one afternoon, Michael Jackson made a call to the irrepressible and isolated Kobe Bryant, and so much changed for him. From a distance, the King of Pop could sense so much of his own obsessive genius within the prodigy. Bryant was the 18-year-old wonder for the Los Angeles Lakers, and no one knew what to make of a restlessness borne of a desperate desire for greatness.
